Note that I play on SDTV (Standard Definition.)

Is it just my TV, or does anyone else get a TON of burn in when they play 4? The dis-colored spot that splotches the TV for a few minutes. Especially Online.

I don't have ANY knowledge of TV's, and displays, so please teach my n00bish self.

Care for a smoke?
In my TV it's fine, and I have a Shitty Definition Television from Mitsai, even that crap doesn't have any kind of problems, maybe your TV is broken, but idk. Try to adjust the display settings on your TV, or in MGS4s under the Options Screen, or unplug the PS3 cables and plug them again.
Nothing to see here

I have used both, a Samsung SDTV 24" and an LG HDTV 42". On the HDTV, to which I connect the PS3 with an HDMI cable, I have absolutely no problems at all. On the SDTV though, with which I use component cables, I get a lot of burn-in, particularly with bright colors like the sky during the day in GTA4 or the map in the options menu of MGS4. This dates back to the PS2 though: I refused to play games like FFXII on my SDTV because the ridiculously bright color palate would turn my entire screen into a green/blue blob. Yet with games like MGS3, I have yet to experience any problems.

The problems don't end there though. I've also experienced the "green tint" (the entire xmb or gamescreen turns a dull green, it's not burn-in) exclusively on my SDTV, along with an occasional loss in audio. I originally thought the component cables were busted, but I still got the green tint when I switched to the normal A/V cables (that come with the PS3).

Never gonna give you up

Nope nothing like that happens to me.
I do have a HD tv (19") but the wires are really cheap (3 euro!) and a lot of the stuff is tangled so i wouldn't be sure if that's the problem.

I think its your TV thats messing up, like there is like another screen behind the the front screen and i think its kinda like burning up, it happened to my Samsung 32" HDTV. Got it replaced though, but im not sure what was the cause it definitely wasnt the game, as i didnt even have a PS3 then. It probably just got messed up because its old or something, or it was damaged whilst purchasing or what ever.
