![]() See that ^^^? Thats your expectations being blown clear out of the water. Nothing even comes close. Everything else even in the same league. The movie itself is incredibley, incredibley dark, with many themes that may have been touched upon in other super hero movies, but not so in depth and deep in the way that is portrayed in DK. Oh, and very solid preformances all around. Aaron Eckhart is a phenominal Harvey Dent. Christian Bale is solid as always, and there was even a small cameo in the beginning where Cillian Murphy reprises his role as the Scarecrow, which I thought was neat. The movie was superbly edited with no scene a second longer or shorter than it should be and every scene in the movie played a crucial role in the overall storytelling. Nothing is wasted. Now on to Heath Ledger's preformance as the Joker. Three words: Oh. My. God. Phenominal. His preformance is clearly the gem of the movie. He is just enthralling and captivating. The Joker is hands down one of the best movie villains in a while. Ranking up there with the Butcher (daniel day lewis) in Gangs of New York, Darth Vader (james earl jones), and Anton Chigurh (javier bardem) of No Country for Old Men. This movie gets a 100 pts of awesomeness out of 100 pts. |

iAn, stop posting things about The Dark Knight! You're killing me with anticipation. Alas, at least I'll be seeing it tonight at midnight. May I ask how you saw it early? Oh, and I'm very happy to see that you really liked it. Edited by Solid Snake8, Jul 17 2008, 03:37 PM.

I'll be seeing it at midnight tonight, too. I'll probably see it again tomorrow night when my best friend comes back from Florida. There's no way that this is going to be anything less than everyone's expected. |

You guys are all bastards for seeing it this early, especially you iAn, your the biggest bastard of 'em all. Good review nonetheless, I can't wait for this movie, I am so hyped it's fucking unbelievable. I was scared when I saw that pic, and you said ''Thats your expectations being blown clear out of the water.'', I was like, WHAT!? And then I read on, every review keeps saying Heath Ledger steals the show, which must be true by now. |
![]() On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair. Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air. Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light. My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim, I had to stop for the night. There she stood in the doorway; I heard the mission bell, and I was thinking to myself, ’this could be heaven or this could be hell’. Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way. There were voices down the corridor, I thought I heard them say... | |

It was undoubtedly the best Batman movie of all. Heath Ledger was so amazing in his role as The Joker, and it made me even more sad seeing his excellent performance and knowing that he obviously won't be making anything more. I can't even explain how great this movie is.. I didn't think it could blow my expectations out of the water as iAn was saying, but it really did. I'm hoping to see it again tonight with my friend. Hell, I could watch this movie 50 more times and I don't think I'd get tired of it. |

I saw a midnight screening last night, I have a bunch of pictures to show. But more importantly, let me just say blowing this movie out of the water is an understatement. It is without a doubt, the single greatest movie I've ever seen in theaters ever. The whole time I was on the edge of my seat. See this movie! Stop reading Ian's review and our posts, get off your ass, and see this movie right now! |

This makes me very happy. I was anticipating his performance more than anyones. Answer me this though, does Two Face get a decent amount of screen time? Or will he be mostly focused on in the third installment? |

There's only one way for me to describe The Dark Knight. Remember how disappointed you felt with GTA IV? Remember how it was touted to be the most awesome piece of awesome since sliced bread and it turned out to be quite shit when you stripped away the shiny shiny and the new engine? Imagine that disappointment again and then forget about it, it hasn't happened again in any way. Or perhaps the best way to say it is this: remember how apprehensive you were about Batman Begins and all your fears turned out to be groundless? It's like that again. The Dark Knight is simply that good. The acting, music and visual effects are perfect. They are what you imagine whenever you read Year One or Hush. Christian Bale is better as both Batman and Bruce Wayne, he's more confident and it really shows. Gary Oldman is simply amazing as Lieutenant Gordon in the same way that he was in Begins. Gary Oldman is James Gordon, I cannot imagine another actor in the role. Aaron Eckhart is brilliant as Harvey Dent, the best way for to say is by comparing him to how bad Tommy Lee Jones was as Two Face. Eckhart owns the role. As to your question Null (you can read it, it's not really a spoiler) Spoiler: click to toggle Heath Ledger. What can be said about his performance? It's epic in terms of skill and you can tell that he loved the character. However I feel a bit strange about it, I don't feel like it was Heath Ledger (as I was a preexisting fan of his work before his death, although I admit I hadn't heard of him before he was announced as playing the Joker), it was the Joker. There was one moment where I realized how good the performance was, at least in terms of: oh my god that is the Joker. Spoiler: click to toggle Morgan Freeman is on usual magnificent form. Maggie Gyllenhaal is a billion tines better than Katie Dawes was. Michael Caine is on the same ground as Oldman, he is Alfred now. At the end of the showing everyone (16 others) started clapping, I have never seen that in a British cinema before. I can't wait to see it again, maybe even a couple of times. |

That's a.... weird spoiler Tam. I thought it was general knowledge that Dent = Two-Face. Question: Will I like it even if I didn't like Begins? I thought that was terrible, keep in mind I'm actually a fan of Batman, eg the comics and books etc. Does it live up to them, or does everyone just like it in terms of it being a 'blockbuster'? |
|
I'm better at Metal Gear Solid than you will ever be. Prove me wrong. What is wrong with me? I’m not a monster! Why won’t anybody fuck me? I don’t want to live life lonely! Why does everyone have to be perfect?
