Exactly, DDR3 is far too expensive right now, the majority of people will need a compatible and expensive motherboard to use it right now, and it just isn't worth it as 2gb or DDR2 will run most things, and can be upped to 4 or even 8gb.

True say Krypton, which is why I usually skip a generation. I don't know about you. DDR2 will do me until DDR4 comes out. A 8800GTX will do me until a 10000GTX or similar comes out, keeping up with technology is impossible in the PC market unfortunately! :(
Yeah, exactly.

My main machine was built over 18 months ago and the CPU is still an older generation Pent IV @ 3.2GHz. I cba to overclock as it still does what I require. I have 4x 512MB DDR 667 modules, and they still do what I need for now.

As much as I'd love a new build which I am slowly planning, my current situation means I need to hold onto the few pennies that I have until I get my placement year sorted. ^_^

Fighterplanes runnin' round my head.

Depending on how old your computer is (probably old if it can only take 2GB), I'd get 2GB of DDR1 RAM, seeing as it'd cost you around... 10 dollars?

Two gigs or DDR2 is about 30 bucks, so I'm sure you can afford it.

Would you like me to close this one, or continue in here?

Also loans ftw. Don't spend them all at once. :)

EDIT: Just saw your new thread. Closing this one for now.
