I use Amarok.

It is free and open source, although getting some file formats to work (Mp3 in particular) can be a pain.

When you get everything going, it works well and has a beautiful interface.

Still rocking it out with WinAmp :D

WMP's Media Library < WinAmp's Media Library
WinAmp's Plugins < WMP's Plugins (non-existent?)
WMP's looks (no themes afaik) < WinAmp's looks (got lots of user made themes too)

Can't really think of a way WMP is better, it does play videos but everyone knows they're much better video players.

I use this device called a stereo that plays this ancient thing called an "LP" and it's all completely uncompressed audio! :o
And the best part is... It has distinguishable artwork and it comes in its very own sleeve!
Whodathunkit?!
I'm with you all the way on that. (I hit the 300 mark on CDs recently...)

On the rare chance I use Media Players in my comp, I use Windows Media. I do have an Ipod but I only use Itunes for loading music. I find that it slows down my computer a lot so I don't use it other then that.
Care to help me out with a portable ops problem? http://mgsforums.com/topic/7029624/1/#new

CDs are good for the look and feel, but there's basically no difference when listening (in fact changing discs gets tedious)..

Although buying your favourites for the look/feel is cool, I've got around 90+

Winamp. Always has been. The multitude of plug-ins are enough to win me over (i HAVE to have a decent crossfade on)

I've found Itunes eats up your memory unnecessarily.

64K Ram. 38911 Basic Bytes Free. Ready.

I prefer the simplicity and full functionality of Winamp, but I haven't used it in a couple years because I have ripped all my cds to MP3/Ipod so I am kind of stuck with Itunes because my whole library is built up in there so I can sinc my Ipods. I don't mind Itunes but it has serious issues that some other players don't have, one of my main issues is it won't save any file tag changes within Itunes.

For video media I use the VLC player. It's a good way to consolidate Quicktime / Windows MediaPlayer if you use various types of video outputs. Like say MP4, which are popular again because of Ipod/Touch/PSP, Media Player doesn't like MP4 without modifications and Quicktime is pretty lame after all these years. I use VLC Player for my all in one video player. You can create a video playlist with mixed formats (wmv, avi, mpeg, mpeg-4, divx) and it will never stop on a file and give you a hard time over a codec. It will play through them all like they all came from the same egg.

Also want to add, the past couple months I have been using Shoutcast/Icecast (winamp services) internet radio players on the PSP. It's been great to listen to certain streaming syndicated shows using PSP wifi while on the move from access point to access point. If you haven't downloaded any of the media players for PSP, give it a shot a see if you like it. I think each player is roughly 250-700kb so less than a megabyte of free space is needed to have streaming audio in your PSP browser. I usually listen to talk radio and don't have an AM receiver in my house. I just use Sirius satellite service and internet radio and it's 100% clear all times of the day regardless of whether. On my PSP I listen to Alex Jones and Coast To Coast in numerous timezones. Never miss a show no matter what time of day I'm listening.
