I originally heard the word in the lyrics from a song by my name favourite band (Muse) called Time Is Running Out (the opening lyrics being: "I think I'm drowning, asphyxiated"). The definition is to be in a state of suffocation; I thought it was an interesting word and would make quite a unique online alias. Before I used this name I was generally known as "PhantoM" (and still am in some places) but because that name is more common I generally use this one now. I added the 1 because in some sites I'm unfortuante enough to have been beaten to the name, so for the sake of me remembering where I use the 1 and where I don't, I attempt to just use this variant as much as possible now.

Well, mine seems pretty boring in comparison to most of those in here (especially Tam's essay. I mean, what the? Even the underscore has a meaning?!)

Mine's just my first 3 (of 4) initials

Comes from Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, he was pretty much my all time favorite anime character.
The 88 is my birth year.

Tetsou88 (name I use for email and such)
Its supposed to be Tetsuo from Akira, but I spelt it wrong.

Lmonlime88 (Aim name)
This one actually has a story. I skipped class to go to 2nd lunch( my school had two lunches since we had like 4,500 student) and was hanging out with my friend when she wrote Lemon lime on my hand from a sprite can, of course I didn't have enough fingers so she skipped the e, I was like hey, I should use that for AIM. People usually misread it as I'm online.

Well, Big Boss is my favorite character in the MGS series. And July 28th is my birthday (7-28). So, I just put the two together and there ya go.

@Tam: Loving the deepness behind the alias there, Tammy.

Mine. Well, I wanted something unique without having to slap 4 numbers on the end of a word so that I could use it, I first signed up to Newgrounds as Shyne-Bryght a few years ago, and I kinda wanted something that sounded and looked creative, and replacing the 'i's with 'y's looked ok. Slapping the dash between finished it really.

A previous username I used to go by and still do on very old stuff is 'uther99' or 'uther05', Uther as in Uther Lightbringer from Warcraft 3, and when I first used 05 it was 2004 so I just put it for the next year, and 99 came later, as just 2 number so I could use the name Uther.

Mine is a pretty common reference to oral sex around Denver which is near where I live. I used it because I like receiving oral, sometimes giving it. I mean, if you smoke and eat junk food, you're not going to taste good at all. So if you want some you have to be pretty healthy.
And it feels especially good if you suck and not just lick... Mmm mmm mmm!!!

I easily have the worst name here. Lee Stephens. It's just my first and last name stuck together.

I do have an evil twin by the name of Stee lephens though, haven't seen him for a while. :ermm:

I... uh.. just kinda took mine from the character.. Liquid Snake. Switched it around and made Snake Liquid... since someone already had Liquid Snake... I don't have a significant backstory towards mine. I feel like an outcast.

My name originates from a persona I created when I was a child. Basically he was some sort of being who could do nearly everything. He wasn't a God by any means, but his powers came close. I've never had a distinct picture of what he looked like and so I coloured him various waves, rings and explosions of colour. His body would appear certain colours depending on where he was or how he felt. He wasn't a super-hero or fought bad guys or something like that, although I'd imagine he'd be quite capable of it. He was an imaginary persona that let my thrills and thoughts run wild and take form. He was Color and he brought colour to a world drenched in dark and forbidding shades.

My name is from "Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere", a british sitcom from a few years back. The phrase was frequently uttered by Max in his husky northern tone when Paddy had rubbed him up the wrong way. Just something about the way he said it made me start saying it to myself out loud, and it was the first thing I thought of when deciding on a name for this forum.

I'm with G; it's my first three initials (Alex Daniel John). I always used to feel a bit cheated in arcades and stuff when people entered their three initials in the high scores and stuff and I had four, so I just started using ADJ. And it's like an adjective, which I find rather nifty.

Lol. I don't consider that a bad thing, because I hate my last name anyway.

Yay for having 4 (or more) initials!

BosaBoss:

I'm a fan of Busta Rhymes, who is also called busabus as a nickname. It's also inspired by Big Boss, which is pretty obvious and the two of them together become BosaBoss ^_^

bloodfest

Bloodfest is my MGO username. I know now that it's a metal band or something, but that's not why I chose it. It just popped into my head. I guess it's suiting for MGO. However, for now it's mostly the other players who feast on/in my blood. Should be the other way around :ermm:

And my name... Eh... has anyone ever watched "Pinky & The Brain"? Well "GLARB" was just some random word Pinky said in this one episode and I thought it was awesome. So... I'm... glarbinator.

Lame, yes.

Mine's quite simple.

My real name is Jordon Webb. The first steady job I had was at a gas station owned by my uncle-in-law, but his father was the one who built the place over sixty years ago. His name was Galen. I was like the only kid who worked there that Galen liked, and for whatever reason he just started calling me Webbie. After that, everyone started calling me Webbie. Both in real life and on the internet my nickname has become Webbie, and that's fine with me :)

Galen Porter actually just passed away about a week ago. Damn good man he was.
