The first night you played MGO; how bad were you?

I'm just wondering. Played it for the first time last night and thought I'd ask how you guys fared in your first rounds. I'll be honest, I started with an AK and no clue where to go, ended up loosing a few Team-Deathmatches with kill/death around 5/11. Got to grips with it a little bit after an hour or so, and started to get used to how the whole thing works. One low scoring round I even won 5 kills to 1 death -_- but for the majority of the time I spent closer to the bottom of the leaderboards. I also didn't know that one head shot kills, I would unload 30+ bullets into a guy and he would shoot me with a handgun and kill me first, I was like WTF?

I just ask how all you guys did on your first night playing! I was really bad lol!

I wasn't doing too good. Standing still to change weapons (still thinking the gameplay stops) isn't such a good idea. :hmm:

First EU Match
It was the afternoon of the 12th and I was trying it after having finished MGS4 earlier in the day. I went on and automatched a TDM, Grabbed an AK and didnt do that bad, but you've gotta remember how it was new to all of us seeing how it was day of release. But it was genually fun and no pricks were present on microphone so I enjoyed it and played for a while.

First JP Match
It was last Friday [18th] After having played some JP MGS4 I dived into MGO and came second in the TDM round and played with awesome people who actually played as a team

I didn't do too bad. Having spent a bit of time working on my aim on MGS4, I knew my shooting wasn't going to cause a problem. The only thing I struggled with was with the fact that you have to constantly have one eye in every direction, so I got killed a few times by people I hadn't noticed, but when I saw them first I tended to do fairly well. I knew I was going to prefer sniping over anything else, so soon found good high up locations and started kicking some ass :P

I thought I would do good since I kicked ass in MGS4 but damn, I got pretty fucked up the first time I played.

Took me a few hours to learn the maps, how most people play the game, how to use SOP correctly, how to headshot without a sniper rifle, and some other basic tactics to avoid getting killed as much.

My kill/death ratio is only about 20 or so off so had I not just jumped in and tried to shoot around the first time I played I'd my stats would be doing better. Meh... I also learned to stop caring about stats cuz that is what causes frustration. As long as I don't come out last in some matches or my team wins it's all good

Just finished Day 2 and I don't feel like I've improved much personally lol. Sometimes it just behaves weird too, like I shoot someone, they shoot me back, they kill me, then they die. Like we both die together and it happens all the time lol. I can't explain it well but whatever.

I love hiding at the top of towers and buildings, waiting for snipers to climb a ladder then shoot then in the back of the head haha... :D

Thanks for all the responses so far, interesting reads! Glad to see I'm not the only one who is a slow starter in the online world.

I don't own a PS3 but I've played it a few times at uni + friend's house. I was okay having played Subsistence online previously.

^^Give back my watch dammit!

I think I've gotten a bit better. I'm starting to take up sniping, because it's where I can truly be tactical, that and when I use the M4 Custom, I always die.

Honestly I don't get what so many people saw in the M14, the SVD kicks way more ass as a sniper, and even in up close range if you can use it right.

First day I did pretty good. Then again seeing as I was part of the beta that changes it slightly as I had some form of an advantage over other people.

Just an Innocent Wabbit?

First day I played.. I only played two games.

I went 9/2 with kills, so I did good.

Didn't do so great the next time though.

I found you in hell, I think I can find you in Jersey

I sucked for about 4 games straight. I've never been an online shooter player so I wasn't used to it at all. But by the end of my first night I became better. I went from having a kill to death ratio of like 2/8 to taking first place my last two games of the night before I shut it off on a high note.

People use the M14 more because you can use it like an assault rifle and walk around with it too.
I hate the damn thing though, so many times i've been in really big games where almost EVERYONE was using it. I was actually in a 8 v 8 game and only me and 1 guy on the other team weren't using it.
Glad they've sorted out the DP price.

It was the over the shoulder aim that got me, I couldn't aim fast enough and people just killed me before I got a shot off. Still getting used to it lol.

Actually I was VERY good when I started playing, I ranked consecutively almost always number 1. But unfortunately my skill didn't progress and as players are getting better and better I stayed stagnant and now am probably one of the average low players. Which feels really bad...especially when you lose your rank ;_;
