This'll be interesting. When you're a child, adults always say you should be enjoying life, as when you become an adult life gets tough, you have to fend for yourself. The majority of children usually mention how they hate being bossed by their parents, and want the control and authority of an adult.. Basically, adults want to be kids again, and kids want to be adults. Who's to say which one is better? Obviously personal bias comes into it, you think what you've got is worse, and when you get what you want you want something else.. you just can't (99% of the time) have both. Adults have to manage a lot of the work, but to compensate they get the control, no one tells them do the dishes. Children are the opposite, they don't HAVE to do much work, and they are told to do this and that. So.. the ultimate question, what would you rather be? I'd have to go with an adult, just so much more knowledge and POWAH. Just answer the poll; Child of (or, lol) adult? Kinda funny how the poll question still makes good sense ![]() For the sake of definition in this context: An adult lives away from their parents, has a job and has to (or will soon have to) provide for a family, or at least a partner. A child basically lives with his/her parents and doesn't work, you get the drift. I can't type at all, could a mod change the poll question to 'Child or adult' rather than 'child of adult'. I loved childhood, because we were so much more innocent at youth, things weren't as complicated, and I had a much more solid grasp on my life. Being an adult has made me cynical, a smartass, and seeing how bad things can get. But I prefer adulthood. Because I'm seeing what life has in store for me. Next year I'm getting married, soon I'll be having kids someday, branching out in my career choice, growing up, and all the things life will bring my way. |

I'm not technically an adult yet, but I know exactly which way I want to go, and it's not any further forwards. I can't handle the responsibilities people believe it is fair to put on my shoulders. Maybe it is, I couldn't say. I've known this since I was 7, sitting in bed crying that one day I'd leave home. I never wanted the power, the responsibility, and I still don't want any part of it. I'd give a lot to be a kid again, and have no one bothering me. I've seen what is expected of me, and I just can't deal with it. I'm not just lazy, I am ridiculously scared of talking to people, being near people, anything like that. I can't deal with the very species I am, and it's making my life an increasing hell as I get older. I'd love to go back to nothing, have no worries and no expectations of me, as this is just too hard to bear for me.

I'm torn on this one. As an adult I am a lot better off now then when I was a child. I love my house and possession and so on. Life is very stressful of course but I'm still alive so I guess I can't complain to much. But every day I still tend to think about the past. Not as a little child but as a teen. I still didn't have power or anything but those were great years. Its really a split thing...but I picked child, because no matter how happy I am now I still think of my childhood on a daily bases. People really should live up their childhood as much as they can. |

3 Patriots in a row, Zing! I'd want to be a child, forever, if it was possible. Unfortunately, most people have to grow up, so in 'THE REAL WORLD' I have to be an adult. So I want to be a child, but the right thing to do is be an adult- so I'm choosing that. |

I'm still very much a kid at heart, I still enjoy stupid fun and messing about, though now I'm 18 in 2 weeks, and I know there are gonna be big changes, some or coming into effect now, such as starting proper work, but I simply couldn't cope with these changes unless I can be my true self, I'm a bit of a joker, but I can be very serious too, I think thats because I'm at the age where I can switch between kid and adult easily and without looking out of place, I'm trying to live the best of both worlds at the minute. |

Adult. I never really had a childhood. I could never think like a child. My parents treated me right but not like a child. Things emotionaly have went up and to about as low as it gets.Im in a decent paid family but cause of their work they didnt show up to alot of my sporting events. Ive always been a loner til middle school.I chose adult cause l want away from here.I want to make my own choices without somebody getting in my way. I want to raise my own family and raise it right. I will say this though. I regret nothing. I learned some valueble lessons that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. Edited by wraith shadow, Jul 23 2008, 03:11 AM.

I don't know. I guess my life, in terms of happiness and excitement, has kind of gone downhill the past few years. For example, this whole summer has been just boredom. Only thing keeping me sane has been music (Little exaggerating there). But when I look a couple of years back, my summers were so exiting and funny. I had this small group of friends with whom we'd just go biking every day and doing shit. Now, I can hardly call any of those people my friends anymore. I guess that's part of growing up, you lose most of the old friends in process. But I feel like I'm in the process right now. I had some good times in my child-hood and now I'm just waiting to see what's gonna happen. Maybe it'll get better from this moment. I think I better start doing something about it, cause the child-hood isn't going to come back. Edited by Muikuli, Jul 23 2008, 08:43 AM.

Well I wouldn't say you've got fuck all to do. People who messed up their child hood education will always want to be a child again, they probably won't have their ideal career or job or as a whole, life! |

If I could, I think I'd stay where I am now (18). I still don't have too many responsibilities. I have a lot of friends. Have fun almost all the time. Regularly take part in various amateur stage-shows (I want to make acting my career, so doing shows is V important to me). I understand the world (mostly at least). I'm old enough to do what I want. But if I had to choose between innocent childhood and full-on adulthood, I'd go for adulthood. Intelligence and a sense of knowing what's going on are 2 of the most important things to me (to the extent that I don't take painkillers, so that I am fully aware of what my body's doing at all times). When you're a kid this is the best ara of your life if you're not being abused or anything. it's like its supposed to be, carefree, you're arguing about who stole your lunchbox and who told your secret that you've just gotten your 1st period etc etc. When you're adult, you have bills to pay, people to look over, responsabilities, people who count and depend on you. I'm 20 right now, so yeah I am just somewhere in between. My childhood sucked so I like where I stand now. But overall, primary and secondary school are probably the most carefree years of our lives. Sadly, there is no way telling that to the kids and they won't realise it until they've grown up. All has pros and cons, I personaly prefer being my own master, regardless of the cost. |

I hated my childhood. I'm hating adulthood (if you can count 18 as "adult") I wanna be a goddamn teenager again, 15/16 was a good year for me. I want to go back to the days when £5 would get me drunk, when I could listen to any kind of music and have a good time. When the government wasn't taxing my arse off, when fuel prices hadn't made it a bad idea for me use my car (admittedly, I didn't have a car back then, but I wanna whine about it), when smoking cigarettes didn't actually mean anything to me and when I could have quit at any moment. When I didn't have to work and when stopping out all night wasn't a chore to attempt. |

Aye, I think you're best off as a teenager; you're still having fun but you're getting the freedom and still don't have much responsibility. There's some elements of adulthood I'm looking forward to a lot, and others I'm dreading (money, jobs, etc. etc.); I think student life for the next few years'll be nice, and I should be prepared after that. As for the poll... I dunno; I'll think a little more about it. |

I'd like to be 14 again, adulthood is alright, but the disadvantages greatly outweigh the advantages. When I was 14 all I had to worry about was school, now I have a mortgage, a few loans, two jobs, and a wife to worry about, life sucks post 25. |
