Is the 360 more popular in Japan than the Ps3? Becuase I keep seeing Bandai and Square Enix games that are 360 exclusive. |

An interesting recent article - as I thought the situation was regarding PS3/360 sales in Japan. http://gamer.blorge.com/2008/07/03/mgs4-helps-ps3-catch-up-with-wii-in-japan-xbox-360-still-dead/ |

The 360 is an epic fail in Japan. Which is one of the reasons the new FF is still PS3 exclusive in Japan |

You cant invest money into changing what the Japanese think. The Japanese love Nintendo and Sony cos they are Japanese companies whereas Microsoft are American and dont take much interest in Japan and only have a few games in the Japanese genres of jrpg's and random perversion ones |

That's definetely true, but I think wolfie meant that they are trying to change it, not invest money into it. For example, I remember the game Blue Dragon helping Xbox sales in Japan, actually, thanks to the pack(Xbox 360 + Blue Dragon) sales went up. I think MicroSoft is trying to make more games now the Japanese can relate to, I mean, they are trying to get exclusivity on some new RPG's, just so sales will rise in Japan. Even though, the sales are still poor, but yeah. At the moment Xbox does have better RPG's then PS3, which is a true shame. I think that's what wolfie meant. |

the 360 has 2 square enix exclusives coming, I am sure the Japanese will change their minds with a little time. I should have been more clear in my previous post. I meant they are putting money both in hardware and software for the Japanese market. Valkyria Chronicles seems like the RPG the ps3 needs. Edited by wolfie, Jul 23 2008, 03:06 PM.

Valkyria Chronicles isn't a standard RPG though. My whole point is, if the 360 isn't doing so well, and the ps3 and square enix are both japanese companies, why are they [square enix] putting more rpgs on an american console? Samething with Bandai(except I think it might be American owned), and Namco. Edited by Spike88, Jul 23 2008, 03:49 PM.

I think it's cause MicroSoft pays those companies a shitload for the game to stay exclusive, or for it to come on their console as well. That's the most suitable reason, cause I believe RPG's are still more known in Japan, but yeah, that's what I think. |

Money, Microsoft is buying the main JRPG developers to save the 360 in the Asian MArket and is stablishing relationships for their future consoles. I agree with ...Liquid... Edited by wolfie, Jul 23 2008, 04:00 PM.

Microsoft snap up exclusives using there lots of money to try and prise the Japanese to get a 360 - But lets be honest there is no way the 360 can catch up with the sales of other consoles in Japan, Ever. |

I'd think they would make more money, if they released on the system that is selling the most in their country. Oh well, hopefully they'll change this quite soon and the ps3 will get some decent jrpgs. Especially since, this may be sterotypical, I view the 360 crowd as more FPS. |

I agree.
Actually, I believe the PS3 has more FPS games at the moment. I first saw them like that as well, but times have changed, it's like Sony and MicroSoft switched over genres now, which is quite sad. |

Exactly. Its fair to say the 360 was a total flop when its comes to Japan and the main reason for that is its heavy reliance on FPS' and quite frankly, Japan is not a big fan of 'em. I saw on Kotaku a while back there was an article on FPS' in famitsu about Japan's opinions on FPS' and its wasn't good at all. But the same reason is the reason for the 360's success in Europe and America. The PS3 also has a lot of FPS' which is why it isn't doing as well as the PS1 or 2 did and nintendo....well, nintendo's sales in Japan is out of this world. Nintendo will always be Japans number 1 company. And notice how few FPS' there are on nintendo consoles. |

This is further backed up by Nintendo's only flagship FPS on Wii - Metroid Prime 3 - Only sold 34,000 in its first week and debuted at No.5 in the Japanese chart. And of cause, Nintendo stuff not being first on its first week means somethings up |

The only reason the PS3 has alot of FPS, is because its whats "in". Sure I'm hyped about Killzone 2, and Resistance 2, but it feels like I won't be getting a good Adventure game or RPG for a while. |

Exactly where these huge amounts of FPS games for the PS3 and 360? Off the top of my head I can only think of a few: Resistance: Fall of Man Halo 3 Rainbow Six: Vegas Rainbow Six: Vegas II Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Medal of Honour: Airborne Haze Am I missing something here? Has a torrent of FPS games suddenly appeared without me noticing? |

Call of Duty 3 Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter 2 Turok(I think) Half life 2 Team Fortress 2 The expansions of HL2 Portal And then there's going to be Killzone2 and Resistance 2 in the near future. Shooters in general are just really popular. |
