How do you plan it? Do you have it all written down, your routes, methods etc or just keep mental notes. I'm talking about Big Boss etc runs here! How do you feel playing them? Tense? Under pressure? Relaxed? Joyful.. lol you get the picture. I just wanna know about speed running, how long it takes to plan blah blah.. |

Well, when I'm speedrunning, it depends on what exactly I'm doing. If it's a Foxhound run or something, I can be annoyingly tense and jerky on the aiming at times. Probably explains my terrible MGS3 Foxhound run of 1 hour 51 mins. ![]() I never write down techs and stuff, but they're just there in my head. I do find that sometimes, I can't concentrate and plan too far ahead, but just apply 100% concentration to the task at hand and remember my strat for the next area as I enter it. Maybe this is bad, I'd like to have a clear picture a few screens ahead. Writing down... not sure if that'd help me too much, guess there's only one way to find out. I do know a few changes I will make in my future runs, but they're all in the head right now. When I'm playing sub-modes, territory I am actually moderately dangerous on, I am more relaxed than when playing a main game speedrun, I know that. However, the feeling of relief/joy when you complete a run is hard to match. Edited by ichbinscissors61, Jul 29 2008, 12:26 AM.

Pretty much what Ich has just said. Even I can feel very tense and pressured. When I'm not recording i can hit every strat allmost everytime and without fear or caution. However playing running and recording are all very different things and the pressure knowing your recording is immense. having been rcording for a long time. I never have a problemwith small short videos or runs. i can hit Segmented parts with no problem, The only ever time I feel pressure is recording Single Segment runs, especially so towards the end. I never keep notes, though may use notations to preplan a run. While your speedrunning you should try to give 100% to the game and not check over notes during load times/cut-scenes. |

Well I haven't done any of the recording so I don't know for that. But for my BBE run I kept mental notes. After playing the game 12 times through and 4 of those being speedruns you get the jist of it. Well it can be infuriating when you screw up a run but the joy you feel after completing the run, there's nothing like it. Well there's only one thing you truly need to plan and that's commitment. Speedruns will try your patience beyond belief you can believe me on that. Otherwise if your playing don't return to notes halfway through. Ruins the flow and the timer keeps going. |
