His hair is slicked back in MGS4 because he wants it that way. He has bangs they're just slicked back. Especially in MGS3 he has bangs, then slicked back with bandana, then down to bangs again at the end when he gets it on with EVA |

It was that ugly ass MGS2 sneaking suit that makes him look goofy to me. I'm not a big fan of the octocamo either, really. |

I suppose the octocamo was there to show the advance in times and technology? Or maybe just for the L.Octopus fight to be a bit more interesting. |

I think OctoCamo was definitely more about function than form. |

Still, it's not the "prettiest" sneaking suit Snake has used. |

Well it's not really about the look (when it's not mimicing pattern) because of the technology, which was the suit. |

I personally think it looked pretty cool while mimicking certain environments. It was coolest when you couldn't see it. |

Snake gets slightly stupid looking as graphics improve[bar mgs3]. mgs2 he looks a little slow,mgs4 the young snake camo was full on slapable. |
| Wanna know how i got these scars? My father was...a drinker. And a fiend. And one night he goes off crazier than usual.Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that.Not.One.Bit.So,me watching,he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it.Turns to me and he says"Why so serious?"Comes at me with the knife,"Why so serious?"He sticks the blade in my mouth,"Lets put a smile on that face!"And.....Why so serious? | |

I liked the look on Snake in MGS4, The Young Snake camo, he looked more like a tough-guy. MGS2, he was just a bit.. goofy, Dont get me wrong! I loved the mullet.. but he was a little off-touch. Edited by Mr. Snake, Aug 28 2008, 06:04 AM.

its not a mullet. The hair on the top is the same length as the hair in the back. I will admit it looks like a mullet, but its just combed back. |

That thing is a Mullet, trust me. It wouldn't matter if it was combed back anyway, you can still have a mullet with a fringe. |

I agree that Snake does look a bit weird in MGS2 in some cutscenes, but there are also some that i think he looks really cool in.![]() ![]() ![]() But MGS2 is definately the most inconsistant for 'good' angles of Snake, the one Entity posted was a classic example of Snake definately looking 'Goofy' My problem is 'Pliskin' though, i know it's only the uniform but he looks too fat and his hair looks like he's been dragged through a hedge a couple of times Spoiler: click to toggle

Yeah, I've been replaying Sons of Liberty a bit and noticed how inconsistent Snake's "cool" look is. Odd, isn't it? I think Naked Snake as depicted in Snake Eater and Solid Snake as depicted in Guns of the Patriots both look badassed pretty much all of the time.
I think there was a certain tired dullness in the eyes that stayed there, even with the young face camo. It was quite apt, considering the degradation Snake had suffered. That said, I think he still looked like a worn badass. Edited by [X] Entity, Sep 12 2008, 01:24 PM.

Well, I've read this whole discussion from start to finish, and I have a couple of points I'd like to raise; 1. The 3 clones were genetically manipulated to display different sets of genes right? So Solid doesn't necessarily have to have a dye job. 2. again with the gene manipulation, maybe Solid Snake was never destined to be as powerfully built as his 'father'. The same can be said for Liquid. On the other hand, Solidus, getting balanced genes, or maybe even the original gene blueprint, would turn out just like Big Boss. I know the bulky power suit is misleading, but by his face you get the impression that he's a fairly big guy. Like a muscular Sean Connery, if you will. |

That is excellent.
Are you suggesting that Solid Snake's brown hair throughout the series (excepting, purportedly, during the briefing) is the product of some sort of variable genetic expression, if you'll bear with my terminology? On the note of the briefing: I find the appearance of his hair during this rather insignificant. The camera is not very high in detail and has a distinct tint to it. Furthermore, only scissors are mentioned on the DB regarding Solid's preparation for Shadow Moses. It's not that important an issue, of course.
Yes, Solidus was certainly the most like Big Boss genetically and aesthetically. On another note, I find it most interesting that what distinguishes the Les Enfants Terribles from one another the most is what they put their wills towards. Edited by [X] Entity, Sep 17 2008, 06:32 PM.
