I really hit a nail on this conclusion honestly, because I am a person who has put up with a lot of racism in the past seven years since 9-11. Racism, the act of discriminating someone over their race or ethnicity, using various slanderous and derogatory words to offend and hurt someone else, over the color of their skin. My definition, is it pure ignorance. End of story. It still exists today greatly, people lately, more towards Mexicans, Black people and Muslims, at least from my perspective and experience. You got people today who say "Bomb Afghanistan! They're all a bunch of al quida sons a bitches!" Obviously without even evaluating the fact that terrorists are the al quida killers, not the Afghans. Then you got people here in the U.S. who have the audacity to call their fellow Americans "Nigger." "Filthy fucking nigger! Go back to Africa! Leave the U.S. for real Americans!" "Fucking terrorist! Go back to Iraq!" "Goddamn wetback! Leave to your shithole home so us hard working Americans can not do the job you're so willing to do!" Disgusting huh? But is it really? Allow me to explain myself here. My family, namely the males in my family are all incredibly patient people, who are very emotionally stable and controlled. My dad, Kamran, Ahmad and myself. My older and younger brother have dealt with racism in one way or another, Ahmad not so much, it was an instance I remember at Vasona park, which he just brushed off after some white kid told him to go bomb another country, when it was Eid. Kamran lived with a fucking racist, which he revealed to me in early 2006 was the real reason he moved out of Chico and to Davis, because apparently the experience fucked him up, but that was because of apparent attacks made on his life, I would believe him considering, for those of you who aren't aware, the guy who he lived with died a couple months ago, and Kamran very sadly told me it was the first time he actually wished death upon someone, and was happy to get it. I personally get freaked when I hear my older brother, a rather kind and collected person say something as bad as that, but I thankfully haven't been in his shoes on that case, so who am I to judge? Then there's my dad, a working stiff, a guy who runs a Money Market store from 8:00am to 8:30pm, all the way in fucking Gilroy, just to keep our family stable, he and my mom both have worked together since 1997 at that store, even after their divorce, they still work together, and after all that, fucking pieces of shit have the audacity to call him a fucking terrorist or a derogatory remark, saying they have it hard while he stays in an air conditioned room all day. He does, on his feet all day, all night, paying other people's bills like a bad habit, 8am to 8:30pm, from Monday to Saturday, though Sundays it's just 8am to 7pm. Laddy fucking dah. Yes, calling a man whose lived in the U.S. for almost 30 years and served in the U.S. Air Force a terrorist, how very justified.. My point, is why? Not why are people racist? I mean, why did someone behead someone else in Canada? Why did Osama Bin Ladin kill thousands of people? Why do retarded ass morons call George Bush a good president? Why after 8 years of an economic failure in the U.S. would people willingly want a republican in office? To put it simply, quoting Alfred the Butler from Dark Knight, "Some people, simply want to see the world burn." My question isn't why are people racist, it is simply, why do we allow racism to hurt us? Why do we willingly give racism power? Because really, all of us who do get offended by racism, all of us who fight back when someone acts racist towards us, are giving racists power. We give them the power to hurt, the power to offend, the power of words. It's simple ignorance is all racism is. The fact that someone is ignorant enough to call me a terrorist when I'm clearly not, doesn't offend me in the slightest. This is an actual situation I dealt with, I was in downtown San Jose, near Alum Park, which is very Mexican American and Southern American populated because I was headed towards Mt. Hamilton, and as I get gas, someone walks up to me, a fucking trucker looking Southern dude, looks his early 40's, beard, beer gut, cap and all I kid you not, and tells me as I fill gas, that it's my fault gas is so high. If it weren't for you Iraqi assholes, I'd be paying a quarter the amount I'm paying for truck on diesel. I laughed, I really just laughed at the guy as hard as I could to where I sounded like a complete jackass. I said yeah it is my fault, because apparently I'm the terrorist leader of al quida. The punk just left, he got pissed off, growled, flipped me off and left. And I, to add insult to injury, as he pulled out, waved to him the whole way, chanting "enjoy paying another 120 bucks for gas thanks to me!" But there are people who would get in this douche bags face, and fucking pound it to the ground. There are people who cry, who become furious, people who grow self loathing, over ignorance, when it can be brushed off. When we react negatively to racism, we give it power, when we should be brushing it off. Because the less fuel we give racism, the less power it will hold, and the less power it will hold, the less people will attempt to throw it in our faces. Maybe people won't stop, people may never stop being racist, but let me ask you something, if you know racism is just ignorance, when you know better beyond the ignorance, should it get to you when some cousin fucking redneck or some racist jackass gets in your face? If we don't give racism the power, then we have the power, then we hold the cards, and the racists will have to try something else to try and get to us. All I am saying is, if you do ever come across a situation where racism is thrown at you, think about it, and do your best to realize you are above the racist ignorance, and then you won't feel as bad, then you won't be so offended, then you will feel much better about yourself because you are strong enough to say "fuck racism. I'm strong dammit, racist ignorance isn't enough to bring me down when it's coming from the mouth of a loser ass degenerate." |

I've dealt with my fair share of racism, it's one of the only times I support violence, it's probably wrong but I'd love nothing more than to line up all the racists in the world and shoot them down one by one, unfortunately that's not a possibility, so the best thing to do is join the armed wing of Antifa or something like that. You're right to say that it's best to brush it off, but I'm sure you'll understand it's easier said than done, until I figure out how to do that they deserve to get their faces stamped on, probably an immature thing to say, but it's better than lying right? So I disagree with what you're saying, but I hope that one day I can agree. |

What I'm saying isn't brush off the ignorance, but to not give it power beyond being just mere words. Ignoring is not the message I am trying to get across at all, but to disallow it to have any meaning what so ever. Because the God honest truth is that it has no meaning or power at all. And if the person does for whatever reason act beyond his words with violence, then I suppose it's safe to bet all chains are released, but if it doesn't esculate to that point, I simply can no longer see how it holds power over us, to upset and hurt us, and to give the racist the thrill and joy of hurting us. |

I mentioned something about racism a little over a year ago on this forum. All I got was 20 white people that argued with me that racism doesn't exist anymore... Which pissed me off to no end. So just saying, beware, there are many ignorant people out here that'll try to argue with you that it doesn't exist and is all in our head. I don't let it get to me as much as I used to, verbally at least but I have had situations escalate beyond words before. Started by the opposing party. I understand exactly where your coming from and there was a time where I tried to treat things in that manor. But in the end it isn't something that works 100% of the time. Things can go from verbal to physical even if you ignore it. Also it effects other things that you can't control. Such as a girl ending a relationship because she finds out your a different race then she thought, despite having dated you for months. So then its kinda hard to ignore things like that and shrug it off. It always hits home and hurts. Sure I can tell myself, at least I'm not dating a racist anymore, but its amazing how much my race has effected my relationships. From people saying, "My dad wouldn't approve of me dating a black guy." From the girl saying she doesn't want a date a black guy. It really limits the kinda girl you can date. And personally, I seem to really fall for the preppy girls who in the end have always seemed to not like black people >.> So I take that stuff to heart. Edited by solidfox, Aug 7 2008, 10:58 PM.

Its just races? I put up with being called "Jew boy" and "Fucking Jew" everyday because my family is Jewish. I try to just brush it off but when you get a fucking Swastica drawn on your locker. I consider myself rather coolheaded. I never got into a fight. This shit though kills me when somebody makes a joke about the Hollocaust. We let this country go this way and replying would make us bad as them.Nuff fucking said Edited by wraith shadow, Aug 8 2008, 03:18 AM.

Excuse my language in this post I mean no disrespect. Around 5 years ago I use to ride. I rode all around my town through these trails. Ever since I was a kid my mom told me "If anyone ever looks at you strange and ask for your nationality, you tell them your Italian.” Now I look way more Puerto Rican than the other. I never really understood what she meant by that until that time came. One day I was riding and I encountered a couple people riding quads. I chased them down to say what’s up because it way more fun to ride in a pack then it is to ride solo (also safer). So when I did catch up with them we started to bullshit. Then the guy told me to take off my helmet. So I did. I never received such a strange almost disgusted look on some ones face. He almost looked pissed. He asked me what I was and immediately thought of my mother. I told them I was Italian. They went "ohhhhhh. See we see a lot of coons and spics riding around here and were starting to get tired of it. |Those coons and spics were probably my friends. I just put my helmet back on and said I had to get going. Who knows what could of happened if I stated I was Puerto Rican. Its disgusting that I have to hide myself from certain people. |
