'Akiba' does sound like a cool code name for a would-be MG5 character, I must say. I'd rather see Raiden as the next character though. I wouldn't want to see it turn into a stupid love story with Johnny and Meryl. |

thats what i was thinking might happen. they would kinda do a repeat of the whole solid snake/meryl love thing that they had in mgs1. but im betting that raiden will be the new protagonist lol. like i said this whole thing was just an idea from some information i pieced together. |

To be fair to him, while he was in MGS1 he was only a noob in all respects, he'd undergone little if no battle experiance, and was thrown into the fray unprepared. Its been 10 years since MGS4 so his skills have significantly improved. A wise move on Kojimas part that we shouldnt see this obviously until quite late on in the game. Without nanomachines he had severe dysentery after arriving in the Middle East, and he was up against Solid Snake (when Snake arrived at the temp base of Rat Pt 01), so he had little chance to win there. Although he seems highly unlikely to be the next protagonist, I see Raiden taking in his place in a much more action based role. This will be a mjor tonal shift for Kojima Productions that they'll have to deal with if they decide to come to Raiden. Its more than possible it'll be another prequel. |

He's more prepared, but still a total f* up. He got the team spotted in the middle east. I rather have a game that revolves around Meryl than Johnny, and even then, I don't think it would be that good. Actually, something that I definitely would like to see, that gets more into the whole networking/online thing: a Metal Gear Coop game. Don't think MGO, think MGS. True tactical sneaking action for two players... Problem is, can they pull it off right? |

thanks =). its unlikely to happen. but i spose anythings possible. now that i think about it i think the only reason johnny became such a good fighter at the end was to show meryl and johnny could be a team even without johnny having nanomachines. they couldnt have meryl marrying a complete wuss haha. |

hideo kojima has been recorded speaking about the future of mgs on the bluray making of mgs4 disc. he sais "this is the end of the mgs series, if there is another game/series it will be with COMPLETELY NEW characters and a COMPLETELY NEW world/setting/story. this has been said several times on these boards............ |

I didn't see that ('cos i couldn't buy the LE, stupid Play.com), but i'm very glad to hear that. Interesting to see how KP will do. Still though, things can change, and with all the 'fans' wanting more and more of MGS, who knows.

it would be cool playing as the cyborg raiden or perhaps a member of the elite units such as b&b,dead cell but the whole thiing is playable online having 5 players become the unit each with their own squadron of soldiers hand picked to suit their needs (god if i had money) |

I personaly hate Johnny. And thought that he was just a distraction in the whole game. the only thing that disapointed me was the way Meryl all of the sudden falls in love with him. It felt very forced. I thought that it was usless to the story. BTW, I just thought. Hasent there been a John/Johnathan/Johnny in every game? It all most seems like an inside joke at KP now. no his grandfather was in mgs3 as a cell guard,"akiba" was in mgs 1 who got knocked out by meryl and 2(only hear him talk through directional mic at certain parts of game in 2) |

Even if he isn't the next main character, i think it's safe to say a Johnny WILL appear in the next one since there's been one in every game since MGS1. |

I personaly don't think that there should be another MG game. I think they should leave it at that. They managed to keep the saga going for 20years and still keep it fresh. I don't think that it would be a good idea in the intrests of the company to make another. If they made another it would just be a spin-off and is most likely not going to be any wear near as good. And besides, Snake is what made the MG games. It would just not be a very good idea. But thats just my oppinion. |

Snake is what made the metal gear games??? He wasn't even in 3,.. well Solid wasn't, but you get the point. And to say it wouldn't be a good idea in the interests of the company.... The company is interested in making money, and that's what the series has done for them time and time again. To say they won't make another is absurd,... but to say Kojima won't have a hand in it would be more believable. |
