I am bit prejudiced towards black people. i don't want to be, but i have had a lot of bad experience with them where i live. many of them are in gangs, and it's frightening to go near them. a lot of crimes are committed by black youth here as well, but there not the only ones. it's just a natural reaction i have. anyone else who feel like this sometimes? |

I don't think this thread was neccisary. It's only going to make people pissed. And no, I don't have prejiduice aginst any race. I think people should be thought as people rather than Black, white, asian, arabic, hispanic. I'm getting tired of threads about this kind of shit

I use to be racist as fuck and I don't care admitting it. I went through alot of situations with black people and somalians that changed my view of them massively. These days I'm more logical about it even though I still hold a small form of prejudiced, I'm not going to lie. |

I seriously don't hold any form of prejudice. Do you know why? Yeah, I've had a lot of really bad experiences with Mexicans growing up in Downtown San Jose, one tried to stab me, a lot of times, just getting in my face, and forcing me to take the long way home so I don't have to get beat down. Same could apply for black people, but the reason I have no prejudice is because the people you hate are gang bangers, thugs, not black people. I hate the gangbangers too, I am 100% prejudice against gangbangers. But they don't classify as black people. See, I hate gangbangers, but I don't hate black people or Mexicans, I see a black guy walking down the street, an average looking guy, I won't hold prejudice against him just because of the color of his skin, it will only be if he's one of those thugged out black guys, who will start shit over nothing. Judge the mentale, judge the attitude, don't judge the race, that's my motto. |

I give respect to you for admitting this, but the line "I can't help it" I don't fully agree with. I am black and I haven't fully had great experience with all white people, Mexicans, and so on. But I don't find myself to be prejudice against an entire race because of a bad experience. It is something I feel can be controlled. To be prejudice against an entire race because of a bad experience is why I feel things like this continue to exist. For example, maybe some of the black people you've run across have had the same mind set as you. Say they had horrible experiences in their past with white people so they grew up prejudice against whites and is their reasoning for being mean to you. I'm not saying they are right in doing that, nobody is for that matter. But I just personally see that as why it continues to happen, different people who generalize an entire race, religion, and so on because of bad experience. Just my views, I understand where you are coming from because of past experience. I just don't understand putting the entire population of black people under the same microscope because of the ones you live near. First I would like to adress some things what people above me said.
I don't agree, I personally respect the guy for coming out and confessing, thus sharing his opinion. After all, this is the Opinions/Confession section, things like this should be allowed. He's also not calling every black guy a retard, or anything else that would be seen as racist.
I'll give you one piece of advice then, don't go into the Opinions/Confessions then.
That is very true, that's the mentality everyone should have, in my opinion. Also, I agree with you on a lot of points you made, solidfox. Let me start out and just honestly spill the truth. You could say I am a bit prejudiced, not against blacks, or even Mexicans. The biggest problem, especially in a lot of neighbourhoods here in Amsterdam, I have had with Moroccan people. This has left me slightly prejudiced on them. Now, I know solidfox and both The Departed are very right in what they said, thus I don't feel that the whole race is shit, cause I know some very nice Moroccan people. The whole problem is the way how they act, again, please anyone don't take this as a offense, I'm not meaning to offend anyone, honestly. They just start shit for nothing, like Departed said, especially the youths around these parts. They somehow feel the need to be all tough, and act 'gangsta'. Now, do note this also happens with nearly every other race. There are also whites who do this, blacks who do this, people from Latin origin who do this. That is exactly why I agree a 100% with this statement. I'm currently at a school with a lot of people like that, 'troubled youths' you could say. A lot of them just fuck up everything around school, and it can get very annoying to tell ya the truth. I'm not a rascist but all the times I've gotten into trouble it were the same people and they happen to be all Turkish or Marrocan. I know that you said nothing about me being wrong all though I think we could have did without "giving me advice" Anyways, I don't think it's races. It's groups (as said above) There is such thing as white gangsters and asian yet we generly just discriminate aginst hispanics and blacks. What I am saying though is that we allow the media to portray us as such. Stupid people watch t.v. therfore stupid people pick up on this thinking that all african americans, hispanics, ect act as such. Some do act this way but only a small portion. Like all the time here in the states, they make fun of hispanics for hopping the border illegaly so alot of people here in the states think that all hispanics hopped the border. It's wrong but we allow it anyways. |

I won't bother quoting liquid....every one already has, but I do agree with him. I myself find sometimes feel prejiduice when it comes to my own race. (Sometimes.) I am not really ashamed of myself but of the way we sometimes act. I really dislike this image we have going on. I'm talking the typical perfect teens and fashion magazine crap as well as many other things I can't be bothered to right out right now. |

SolidFox and TD basically summed it up for me. It's not about skin colour but the media and personal experience, the media pumps people full of this thing that all black people are gangsta's and criminals, so thats already in your mentality then you get mugged by a couple of black guys, naturally after that you're gonna start thinking all black people are cunt's. But people need to understand that it's not about skin colour or race but the personality and the experiences that these people have faced, anyone could end being a gang banger given they've gone through that walk of life to become one. Now if I was beaten up by a group of white guys and they called me Nigger I'm smart enough to know that not all white people are like this so I'd get over it. Now this is where the media comes in, there's no denying that the media is controlled by mostly whites and they are portrayed as they see fit. Whites are mostly portrayed as nice, kind, suburban, peaceful life. While blacks are often portrayed as dirty, rough, violent don't give a shit gang members. Kids grow up watching these people, the people they see on TV is the people that they look up too, black kids are seeing this shit and they're like "hmmm so thats how I have to act, thats how I must behave because I'm black, if I behave any other why I'm not black". So they grow up stupid, copying this shit, thinking they're cool and just end up getting stuck in the life style. Once they're smart enough to realize that it's stupid, they can't get out cos' it's all they know. Thats why you see a majority of black people like that, it's because of peer pressure and influence from media and other things, so people that don't know any better are forced to believe that this is the only life for them and that is the best they can do.

Well besides media, It also comes very basically down to their surroundings. Alot of the time, an older sibling or close cousin or some shit will be a gangbanger, and the younger relative will see this and idolize that person. Thinking that they're cool acting like that. And from there it's a vicious spiral taking them on because it's what their friends do. Or that's the type of person the opposite sex is looking for. Or some reason or another. It can't be helped that it will happen at some point, but as stated above, it's not definitive of the entire "race". |

Yes, that is also a big part of why you find most black guys acting this way, because it's what most of these hood rat chicks want. So they act like this to appear cool and before you know it they can't escape the lifestyle. Bottom line, it's not the type of race or colour that act like this because its what's natural to them, it's because of how they grew up and influences on there lives. I agree with many of you. don't get me wrong, i am not a racist. I've just let my own experience of black gangbangers influnce my view on them. but you can't judge all black people based on that. Good to see some of you have the same experience. it's a shame that such things happen. |
