Far Cry 2; Extremely exciting.

Fighterplanes runnin' round my head.

I was just watching videos from GC and I came across Far Cry 2 again. A friend had showed me a trailer or two before but back then it didn't really look all that interesting. Looking at a new trailer, I see I was terribly mistaken. The game is an open world, non-linear/sandbox FPS set in Africa. It has many weapons and vehicles, using a real-time style gameplay(if you want to look at your map/compass, you can see it in your hands while you walk around.), and also uses destructable enviroments.

It's graphics are great in my opinion, and the gameplay looks extremely smooth and solid. I can't describe how cool it looks, so here are some videos.

PS3/360/PC.

Add &fmt=18 onto any of the video URLs to watch them in HD, even if there is no "watch in high quality" option. I suggest watching them in high quality.

I suggest giving them a look. There's many many more videos, just check related.

I think this game is going to be awesome, especially with the extensive map editor feature.

Anyone else excited?

Far Cry 1 has nothing to do with Far Cry 2. You'd be better off just playing the second and not forcing yourself to play the outdated first.

Oh, thought the stories were connected. Hmm, then I'll quite possibly get the second one if funds prove sufficient.

Most machines can run the original FC at a decent rate... even if the machine is as old as the game. (2004)

I'd still recommend it if you haven't played it; I mean I never completed it but did enjoy it. ^_^

FC2 here looks as grand as always, but let's hope it can live up to the hype.

Wasn't the first Far Cry in the jungle or something?

This game looks cool, I wouldn't mind hearing a couple of reviews first, the whole African scene seems to have all ready been done.. It looks quite bland and stale in my opinion aswell..

Noo, Africa isn't done too much. It's got great scenery anyway, and at least it's not like the Middle East. I'm so sick of seeing grey/yellow tinted dirt buildings.

I'm happy about the setting. Where would you want it to be?

The Moon?

No, its nothing that just screams out theres something wrong with it, it just doesn't excite me if you will..

Feels like, I've seen it before. Hopefully it turns out good, at the moment it just doesn't have that itch to play it in my opinion..

Yes, that's a spring roll.

Haven't there been like, four Far Cry's already? Far Cry: Vengeance, Far Cry: Instincts, Far Cry: Wild Mongoose etc. Why is this just FC2? Or is that the pending title?

I'm better at Metal Gear Solid than you will ever be.
Prove me wrong.

Nope, those were just little expansion packs that added a few features.

Here's another neat videoo.

At least you get to play them in October, I gotta wait until November because I decided not to play anything else until I get a good HDTV and 360.

I'm definately looking forward to this, and am hopefully gonna be the owner of the latest card, like a GTX 280 or something, so I can enjoy its loveliness to the full :)

I'd go with the Radeon HD 4870 X2.

I don't think you'll need much more power than that, for anything.

Especially in crossfire.

I've been out for awhile, I didn't even know they made cards with two gigs of ram.

Ive pre ordered my limited edition for this game. I finished the Original Farcry on the 360 plus the expansion for it. I didnt realise how long and hard that game is even on the standard difficulty. Good game no doubt.
