This is the best news in the MGS universe for years now. First thing that came to my mind was about the podcast as well. But personally I didn't care for the one we got so I wasn't one of the people looking forward to the next. To much of a bore for me. You see he does mention MGS5 like it is a certainty. and i was wondering if those podcast would ever come... i guess not. im guessing the japanese have theirs already. its a shame really, i kinda disliked him at first for a very long time, but i warmed up to the guy after listening to so many podcasts (and he did call me "Hardcore" lol) and after seeing how MGS4 turned out with all the so called "western" influences. Meh. A few months ago I would have responded with various swear words and derogatory remarks towards Payton, but after the gameplay brilliance of MGS 4, I'm rather saddened to be honest. Oh well, maybe it will be good to get some new blood into the team. I only hope that we don't ever hear that Shinkawa is leaving the team, I consider his work to be the key component of what I feel to be MGS, perhaps even more than Kojima. |

Finally some good news involving R. Payton. For me it would be more likely if he got fired instead of him leaving. Now that I know this I honestly wouldn't mind for there to be a new game in the MGS series.

All I know about the guy is what I saw in the Blu-Ray that came with Guns of the Patriots. I don't hate him based on that or anything else I've seen of him or heard come out of his mouth, but I do hate how many have asininely perceived him as some sort of "western ambassador" or a "dam to Kojima's river of insanity". I must say, I loved the controls in the last instalment. |

im not really too famiuler with the guy either. im kinda curious why everyone hates him so much? just because of the controlls? i actually really enjoyed the game play and controlls. MGS 3 was hard as hell because of the camera angles and shit. i could never point the camera a head to see who was there lol |

For me it was a comment by him in an interview where he [appeared to be] claimed he was going to totally overhaul how the game should be played and to optimize it for Western gamers. Plus he cut "a lot" out of the script, which I now take to be the CODEC scenes. But my attitude towards him changed after I played the MGO Beta and saw that the controls and new additions still allowed me to play the way I want. Basically I think it boils down to him being American and the huge amount of influence he seemed to have on MGS 4. I didn't (don't) want an MGS to be like that, I thought that he meant that the game was only going to be like that. I was wrong. |
