Linkage. Not only are they making a live-action Cowboy Bebop movie, Keanu Reeves is slated to play Spike Spiegel. Now, I don't know about you guys, but if there's one person I'm underly-impressed by, it happens to be Keanu Reeves. For all the press he gets, I happen to think he's a shit actor. To top it off, he's playing the main character in my favorite anime. I call for a boycott. |

the only way a cult classic anime made into a live action film is going to get any credibility in hollywood is if its staring a "big name" which doesnt always mmean the best man for the job. i like bebop but i dont think id have any intrest in seeing a live action version no matter who was in it |

What's all the hate with Keanu Reeves? Personally, I think he's a great actor, don't see why everyone here hates him so much... The main problem with this isn't Keanu Reeves, it's that they are even gonna make a live action movie out of such a superb anime. It's like sad said, the anime is amazing enough, there is no need for a live action movie, it's retarded really. Still, I have to admit I am mildy excited to see what happens. |

I'm mildly excited too! And I have nothing against Keanu Reeves, it's just that he's a wooden block when it comes to acting, but that's alright! But I really didn't expect this, especially not with Keanu Reeves, that's why it's so funny. I got to see what happens. |

Eeek.. I saw the title of the thread and was excited, I could see it working VERY nicely if done correctly. But Keanu Reeves has to be the worst casting decision for Spike.. fuck. |

unknown stars in a movie based on a cartoon that most people have never heard of is the perfect formula for a flop believe it or not most hollywood studios, espically the ones with the money to make a big budget sci-fi film arent in it to make a true adaptation for the loyal fans. theyre in it for the money and the ticket sales. not to make a flop that only the hard core fan base will apperciate video game movies have the same obsticles to overcome as well. im sure we'll all be thinking the same thing when (if) they decide on the metal gear cast |

Man there has been talk of this for like ages. They have been talking about cowboy bebop live actions for years. I can't see it happening but if it did...If he plays spike.....I don't even know. Honestly I can't see the live action working out. Reeves is so unlike spike. What were they thinking?! |

Exactly. Cloverfield is a cult classic with a bunch of unknowns and frankly that is usually some of the best acting there is. As for Hollywood's book/show/original movie ruining #409,895, it's not too surprising. They're running low on books and American cartoons to piss all over so Anime is next. And Keanu "d00d" Reeves? Gag me with a spoon. He's the reason I couldn't completely enjoy the first Matrix film and is the most typecast actor in history, he has screwed up more movies before 6 PM than most people do all day. All of his work runs together now in my opinion, Neo's Own Private Speed Kings! |

I'd like to reamin optimistic but considering how Hollywood has butchered (or in the process of) the majority of game and anime (and arguably some comic adaptations) in the last 5 years, it's a little hard to do so. |
