Right, I've made an official Computer Corner chat thread for us to talk about anything that we normally would discuss in here - to stop us from hijacking other people's threads. Usual forum rules and whatnot apply in here, and I will be modding it as normal, too. Chat away, fellow tech heads!

Hehe ok, its a Coolermaster Stacker 810, it has removable drive clips down the front, which are a bit of a pain to nudge backwards and stuff, a large mesh vent on one side, which I thought had a big fan behind it but it was just a 40mm fan, which then wouldn't let me close my case due to it blocking my CPU cooler. So we wired up the fan to a square mesh vent in the top of the case which fits a 40mm fan. It has 6 USB ports, a UDP 1384 port, audio and mic port on the front. Its a pretty roomy case, with the power supply fitting in the top rather than the bottom, all in all its good case, especially since I got it for £20 ![]() I'll take some more pics of it tomorrow, bit late atm. |

I put an overclock on my CPU the other day, got my Q6600 running at 3ghz, which is nothing compared to what it could be with my air cooler, I think it could easily stable out at around 3.6ghz, but I don't think its worth trying for now ![]() EDIT: Aww man now that sucks, Pc Gamer invited me to the Showdown they have on this weekend, but I'm at Centerparcs, so I'll miss out

Mmm, I am slowly starting to look into some parts for a new build I am planning for november.... here's a few things that have my attention: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148274 (graphics) http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144953 (cpu) Then a couple of 500GB SATAII Seagate drives... about £43/ea - still debating on a raptor, but the 74GB version is nearly £100 on eBuyer. (yes the links are on eBuyer for now - I will shop around still though, etc) EDIT: Spelling. Edited by krypton_ls, Sep 26 2008, 08:03 PM.

Sorry ![]() You made any more decisions on your new build krypton? I use OCUK a lot for buying stuff, they have good prices on most things. 4870X2 eh? I hear they run hot and loud, and take a bit of power, but it was an at a glance statement, you thought about a GTX 280 at all? With my new PC my graphics is my weakest I think, I've had trouble with framerates on STALKER Clear Sky cause that eats your GPU, beast of a game. So yeah new graphics card would be my next move. Oh, I bought a dust filter for my intake fan on my case, but bought a 120mm filter for my 40mm fan Should be fun taping it on lol.

nvidia.... mmm no. ![]() And my current 2x ATI Radeon X1800XT's run idle at 50 and under load at 70-80 degrees centigrade, so temperatures do not worry me. In terms of the build, here's a list of the items I am interested in: (in no particular order, and yes I am looking at other sites to buy some of the gear) http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143011 The potential 2nd monitor for my current PC - the replacement PC will acquire my current screen; a 24" BenQ FP 241W. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149182 The 4870X2 - would love a Sapphire one. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143019 This PSU's fan orientation makes it possible for me to get the case I want. Plus it's a sick, sick PSU. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/102435 New mouse... oh yes..... http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133421 .... means you have to get a new keyboard. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143852 Mmmm case. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142274 Two essential items... apparently. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/146058 Some of the best RAM the motherboard will take. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130826 Hard drives - will get two of these. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/141516 CPU http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143118 Kick-ass mobo. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/120876 Zalman CPU cooler... got the same one on my current Pent 4 right now, would recommend them to anyone. Estimated total cost of the above: around ~£1450. |

Hmmm, looks a damn fine build, will you really need 1000W though, or is the fan orientation you want hard to find? Also, what bases your preference to ATi over nVidia, just curious as I'm yet to put much trust in ATi at the moment. |

Looking good Luke. Would love to see that be built. I don't know why I fancy a Laptop so much. I have my PC, but theres something drawing me in. What is it? Is it the fact that I could just lay in bed with the TV on, all nice and warm, and do the same as I am now? I don't know. Help. |

Probably Pricey, I get the same thoughts, the convenience of having laptop is attractive, but think of having to charge the battery all the time, and it getting really hot

Well I going to school for computers now. I'm building my first gaming PC. So far I have the following: Thermaltake Tt Aguila SECC Case Black w/ Window ![]() BTX D955XCS Mother Board 8 gigs of memory 775 Dual Core Processor Forgot the speed at the moment. 1 DVD/RW drive 500 GB SATA hard drive I gutted my old pc so I have a few fans that I'm going to use. Havent chosen a video card yet but its going to be bank. Going to get something very strong. My only concern right now is if the mother board will fit in the case. Might have made a mistake. Could be to big. Case hasn't come in yet. I only know that it fits a standard BTX mother board. Which is what I thought I ordered but now looking at it, its a lot larger than my former BTX BTW: Any tips are appreciated. I'm far from a pro and I consider myself a newbie so I know I'm going to make mistakes. Edited by dJdC, Oct 16 2008, 05:15 AM.
