If not then you might not want to read what I put in my spoiler tags. First things first. Hideo Kojima hadn't planned on future MGS games after MGS1 so he hadn't thought up The Patriots when making MGS1. So no, there wasn't originally an intention in having the Patriots apart of Shadow Moses. MGS4 Spoiler Spoiler: click to toggle But I guess you could say that they WERE apart of it considering the fact that Ocelot, Sigint (DARPA Chief), were involved in it and they were both Patriots. And also throw in the Gray Fox and Naomi thing. I don't know, maybe after MGS4 you can implement the thought that Ocelot wanted to be apart of it for multiple reasons and another one would be because of the ransom to get Big Boss's remains. For plans that came to be in MGS4. I'm sure I'm missing out on a lot more info but I'm to brain dead to think of more.

If you think about it, he's actually a very clever man with the way its all fit in together But yeah I believe they we're involved, Reasons being below: Spoiler: click to toggle Ocelot joined FOXHOUND to get close to Liquid so he could manipulate him and pursuade him to demand for Big Boss' Remains/DNA (At this point, Big Boss was in a Coma right? thanks to Zero) So that Ocelot could save Big Boss from the clutches of the Patriots, we now also know that Ocelot killed the Darpa Chief AKA Sigint on purpose due to the fact he is a member of the Patriots (Sigint being the last one to be killed before zero). I also believe that Jim Houseman was working for the patriots in some way as he was very close to Sigint, and he demanded that the test data for REX was to be handed to him (which is what sigint was supposed to be coming back with?)

Metal Gear Solid	my computers whack and i cant open the spoiler tags so im not sure if it was mentioned.. but Ocelot has always been involved with the patriots, hasnt he? In the phone call at the end of mg1, we find out he was secretly planning to hijack the metal gear alongside president George Sears, who we find is really soludus in mgs2. Of course, Soludus is againt the patriots, but Ocelot was betraying him as well. So even though it wasnt mentioned, Ocelots intentions for getting metal gear were the same as they were in mgs2.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater	On a side note of this topic, it is interesting to note that when I was playing Twin Snakes the other day, I noticed a line (that I'm pretty sure) doesn't appear in the original MGS. When Master Miller/Liquid reveals to Campbell that Naomi is a spy, Campbell says something like: "Or she could be working for... It cant be!", and then says something like "If shes been working for 'them', then we're in big trouble!''. Snake then asks Campbell who 'they' are, but the Colonel changes the subject. It isn't mentioned again. I'm pretty sure that this was included in The Twin Snakes as a nod to The Patriots (who weren't mentioned at all in MGS1).

Spoiler: click to toggle I know the Patriots were invovled because of Ocelot being involved, Ocelots whole presence there was to kill/torture to death, Donald Anderson/Signits who is one of the main Patriots, and Ocelot needed to rid him in order to tie things up with Zero also, Also the CIA wanted FOXHOUND to oversee the Metal Gear project that Granin gave to Otacon's ancestor, in hopes to get even with the Patriots and have a weapon to over throw them. I guess.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater	Note on my other post: The exact same snippet IS in MGS1 after all, so its likely that Kojima had a rough idea of where he wanted to go with the MGS Story (in the direction of an Illuminati style organization i.e: The Patriots).

Metal Gear Solid	The Patriots seemed to control everything from the 70's onward so i doubt that the Shadow Moses incident went unnoticed by them, and was probably staged by them seen as President Sears (Solidus) was a Patriot puppet at the time. In other words, he is now opposing Zero's side of The Patriots, which the DARPA Chief (SIGINT) is a part of. That is why he kills him in the torture room.
