Sup ya'll, i need some with with my wireless router,
My router (EchoLife HG520s) has the worst wireless range ever, its downstairs in my house, when im upstairs i get around 30% signal, when i tried downstairs, literally 5 meters away with my ps3 i get 40% signal, its in my garage with a door blocking it so yea,
How come the signal sucks? is it because of the router? even if the placement might be wrong, it shouldnt be that weak :/
thanks for the help.

Feeling Completely Undermined.

With wireless routers, you want them as close as possible to the PC's they connect to, I sit my router right ontop of my PC tower, and I've also wired it so it's more stable and secure, possibly faster. But ideally you'll want to move it from your garage to a closer room, if not in the same room as your computer.

Its probably a cheap router digitaldude. There is a lot of difference and range in diffent kinds of routers. I have had really good ones and really bad ones. The one I have now has a range of 500 feet. I can go anywhere in the house and even outside for a ways.

I used to have a cheaper one that came with my laptop as a pormotion, if you got more than 30 feet away the signal started dropping and I always had to reset it because my laptop wouldn't pick it up.

My advice is spend the money and get one that actually works. Whats the point of being wireless if you have to set it on top of your pc or ps3?

Well it can be placing. Sometimes they act weird, I used to have one out in the open and its signal sucked so I put it under a desk and it boosted the signal. If you get a nice router though you can put them anywhere and you can still get good range.

Well if you have a wireless computer located upstairs, or closer to your PS3, this is what you can do. Buy a USB wireless connection range booster. The standard range booster cost around $30. Install the softerware and locate your downstairs wireless network. So now when you PS3 seeks a connection it will get it from your upstairs computer instead of your downstairs. Turned my connection from a 2(yellow)-3(light green)bar to an always solid 4 green bar. But that was before my computer crashed.

Wanna Fcuk?

Also, many external factors can affect the wireless strength. The insulation in the walls or any thick metals blocking the router/computer connection is quite pervalent in killing wireless conections.

What is a bridge?
basically its like... a router that repeats the signal, so it doubles up the range of the area covered
