Well I finally broke down to getting a tablet ordered, since I wanted to extend my art skills somewhat. I'm getting a 9x12 Wacom Intuos3 tablet. Instead of going on EBay I'm going to be a rich little snot and order it straight from the company itself. Expensiveeeeee. x_x But I wanted to take and look over some last minute thoughts and recommendations. I've only heard that Wacom is a trustworthy company for getting tablets so I wanted some reassurance. If there's any. << >> And if anyone also uses a different style like Bamboo Fun or another company please let me know and how it works. I might re-consider or something close to that. ;3 Thanks~ |

i dont believe in tablets. there are things you can do on paper that can never be reproduced by a computer, like dry brush stroke, REAL splatter, etc. and you can always scan it in. but if you feel you absolutely NEED a tablet, a wacom isnt too bad. ive used it before and i dont like the way it feels, but it is super smooth and silky. |

I agree, tablets are kinda backwards and take the essence out of drawing and painting, BUT, if you want one, I'm pretty sure Wacom is the most reputable manufacturer. |

I disagree, a Wacom can open up a whole new universe into which your creativity can expand. However, learning how to use photoshop (or an equivalent) will prove much more demanding than getting to grips with the pen and tablet. Oh and a 9x12?! Goodness, you must have a lot of money. I'd have gone for an A5 model if I had the money (the only thing stopping me). I've seen some stunning work done on an A5 tablet and I've read many a review saying the A5 Wacom is just the right size. No wonder why it is arguably the most popular piece of kit amongst hardcore hobbyists and semi-pros. Edited by jc55, Nov 22 2008, 04:48 PM.

Wacom is a good choice. Get a feel for it, you'll never go back to paper. |
