Oh Mal, nice one  Yeah, it's really moronic that games get banned. This is the second time a game in Australia has actually been banned right? I believe the first one was Mark Ecko's: Getting Up. Yeah, believe that? That game got banned in Australia, it's unbelievable how a game like Silent Hill or ME gets banned there but a game like GTA IV doesn't. Oh well, sorry for you Australian SH fans. Also @ Shadow_Fox; So, you know that you are probably wrong, and yet rely on 'most' people? Mal here pretty much explained what most people is. Seriously. games might cause a bit different behaviour but you can't blame all the teen stabbings on a videogame like GTA. It's simply ridicilous, it's how fucked up the person is to actually do that, not how fucked up the game is. |

Yeah, I think that all that talk of violent video games getting to the heads of teens, like myself, doesn't do anything. Doesn't want to make me do things, or to any of my mates. It's just an excuse to put teens in the spot for everything, I say. Anyone agree? |

The only thing Silent Hill is going to do with the kids is scare the shit out of them. Nothing else. It does not contain pornographic material (though it would be good), or strong language. They only thing you can say about is violence but again hitting 'zombies' isn't something a teen would try to recreate or do in his ordinary life. Banning Silent Hill was just stupid. If I was a father the only thing that would stop me from letting my kid play the game would have been in order not to be scared and see nightmares all night. I think it is outrageous for a goverment to censor its people to that extent! It is just a game and I think its crazy to just 'Make it illigal'. Anything in the hands of an already pathological person will take on different meaning, but to a average person (Like a gamer) its just alittle survival-horror fun. I am truly shocked if this is the nanny state mentality over there O_O |

So, you're saying that making Fan Videos and joining forums are bad? What's so bad about that? If they really enjoy the game, of course they would make fan based videos and join a forum to talk about what they've seen or what they enjoyed about it. Not saying that MGS is violent here but why do you think people join here? To do the same thing. So, I disagree with you on that one. |

There's nothing to disagree on here. I should of put 'normal' things like joining forums etc. I am not talking about the violence side here, but the way games affect kids in good, normal ways. |

You could of at least said that as it seemed like you were saying it was bad. But yeah, I guess it affects the good side of a child but I doubt that it makes kids do bad things such as murders or even suicide. |

Yeah sorry about that, I tend not to make myself clear on what I mean at first. I see it as how music affetcs people aswell. There have been alot of suicides because of being emo and stuff, but with games I do think it brings more of the good side of people than a bad side. Also to that comment about the older people, I mean the heart-broken parents of the kids who have been killed. |

I can believe they are banning my most anticipated game now that MGS is out!!!! i dont think there is a word for my current anger!!!!! Well us Aussies may as well say goodbye to Res Evil as well, that will probably get banned too since were taking out human shaped targets.... oh and the whole "racisit" thing too |

Man, that sucks for the Australians. I still don't see how the fuck they could ban it. Didn't they get the Fahrenheit game with the sex scene, whereas it was cut in the US? Also: About violent video games contributing to crime, it's true. Not everyone is affected by it of course, but when a teenager steals a car, goes into a police office and kills a number of officers and blames it on gta, there ain't much more to say. Always PC editions release after the original console release except if the concept was planned from the beginning. From console to console 'conversions' programmers have to deal with less code than from a console to PC. The development procedure is far more difficult. A difference of two months is close to nothing, an 'insignificant' difference. PC editions usually take longer than five months. |

Also, on the topic of release dates. All EU residents should note Silent Hill does not come out tomorrow. We have to wait another full month (October 31st) until we get are hands on the game. Still, at least we actually do get the game. |
