It's incredibly boring now. I think this is the ONLY mgs game that I've actually gotten bored of after repeated playthroughs. I've completed the first 3 just as much and I can still replay them without getting bored, but I can't seem to get halfway through Act 1 of MGS4 anymore without getting incredibly bored and frustrated. Your thoughts guys? |

Yeah i have to agree. I can play MGS so many times, and MGS2 and MGS3, but MGS4 just doesn't have enough great gameplay moments to make you want to keep playing it again. |

I'm in agreement Hippy. I've played it through fully twice. Several times (maybe four?) I've started the game again, and get halfway through Act 1, and save to quit for the last time. I never pick up from that last save. It's a completely different game from the others. The others are so easy to replay. This one... not so much.. I've actually considered getting rid of it, and that would make it the very first MGS game I would get rid of. MGO2 is exactly the same way. I can't even play it anymore either. |

I actually agree with you! I have played this acouple of times and find it to have limited playability, however I played Snakeater some.....nine times and still love it. The game is about so much! Emotions you feel on the first playthrough, the amazing storylines - I think if you loved it the first time round you want to play it again and again. |

I have to disagree. I am always excited when I play MGS4. Until now (after 14 plays I think) I've never felt it boring or something like that. Using all this variety of guns, watching those magnificent cutscenes, listening to an outstanding music, enjoying the gameplay, experiencing the true glory of the game with breath-taking graphics... and it doesn't end there. Each time I play MGS4 from the beginning it's a unique feeling. And the same goes for all the games of the series. (MGS1, 2, 3 and 4) |

Yeah, I think it may be more about the fact that you discover all the answers in MGS4. All the other games left you scratching your head. You played it through to try and understand it more. After your play through MGS4 once, every question you had about MGS is answered. The story is laid out in front of you, and there is nothing left to wonder. After the story aspect of it is taken away, the gameplay is mediocre at best. That's the way I feel about it anyway. |

I'm still on my first play through, on Act 3. I have no urges to go and play it, or motivation. I just do when I'm bored. I think its the long cut scenes that put me off, especially when I'm tired and don't expect it. Spoiler: click to toggle

I need some of whatever you're on.... @Pricey- Oh dear. You're going to truly hate the cutscenes at the end of Acts 3 and 5. Edited by Hippysnake, Sep 27 2008, 10:49 PM.

That's pure madness and 'dedication' to MGS. You are born with it (the first one) you don't stick with it along the way. I never get bored of things like that. The more I play them, the more I love them. Muhaha...

For me MGS has never been about replayability. Granted, I have probably completed MGS1 more than any other game but thats due to a fault I find common in every MGS game - they're too short (but thats another story for another day). I do feel that MGS4 is probably the least replayable of the series except for PO (which I played once when it was released and never touched it again until recently before MGS4 was released because I wanted to do a MGS 'marathon' so I had to cringe my way through that game) but I don't care in the least. Why? Because MGS4 fulfilled its purpose for me. To give me a jaw dropping epic end to this awesome tale and that it did. I have only played MGS4 twice and it comes 3rd in my list of favorite MGS games but replayability has nothing to do with this. I consider myself a huge MGS fan but I don't sit there and play through the games until I get bored of them. I play them once, put them on my shelf until around 6 or so months later when I feel like playing the game again and play through the series and continue like that. I can see where you're coming from but I think some of the blame for that should be placed on you. Heck, I bet Alex would get bored of Harry if they did it enough times...OK, bad example but you get the point. Edited by Roy Campbell, Sep 27 2008, 10:59 PM.

You have a point. I've gotten through it upwards of 30 times. But I've done the same for 1,2 and 3, and PO to a lesser extent. And I'm still not bored of them. Linking back to what Snake Liquid said, I think it's most probably due to the fact that 1, 2 and 3 have us scratching our heads in anticipation, whereas MGS4 gives us one breathtaking playthough where 95% of the MGS series gets wrapped up and then gives us nothing but more of the same each time we play it. |

I played it 10 times, and on the last I got the Big Boss emblem. that was my goal and I dont have anything left to do (I know I could get all emblems or faster BBE run and that stuff but I dont really want to). I wouldn't say I've lost interest in it, just need a break or something. I'm sure in a few years I will be able to play it again with the same excitement as the first time. ![]() also, Snake Liquid has a very good point. much of the coolness of MGS3 revolved around the mystery of the Philosophers and all that.

after the 1st act i just delete the save file then start a new one my 1st time through was amazing, not as amazing as the past 3 but close to it,the gameplay mechanics made it more fun to play for me but also easier(but for online i pray that it's like it is,in MPO i was terrible) after my 3rd playthrough it's just kinda boring, the areas you go to leave me wanting to stay in the middle east cause that's the only one i liked(the 4th area was great but i don't want to go through the 2nd and 3rd acts to get there) playing as old snake really put left me unsatisfied,i just didn't like it,i would prefer playing as raiden and the whole story rewritten, being able to play through the game again with every weapon you found/bought took away any challenge and made it easy as hell even on TBE,3 shots from an ak and someone dies,on mgs3 it took almost 2 mags to kill someone up close with the 1911 on very easy you should only keep octocamo stuff and special items and weapons from getting emblems the AI is good but they don't notice anything when their fighting each other(militia vs pmc) i threw like 13 mags at a pmc and he didn't even turn around, there wasn't anyone around and he was in cover, wtf is up that octocamo is a really cool concept but made the game way to easy at times in the previous games there was always something you had to do to advance to the next area like finding key cards, disarming bombs, ect. in 4 you just run to the next area and ignore everything around you DP made the game way to easy, being able to buy ammo and everything at extremely cheap prices is ridiculous, everything should be a lot more expensive Edited by g-fox, Sep 28 2008, 03:03 AM.

I don't know what I think about it. I've only played it all the way through three times, and I have most of the emblems. Sometimes I will go on it and get bored, but other times I can play it for hours. I agree that this is the least playable. I don't know why though, because everything is better. Ya after the second time beating it I can't seem to get past act 2 without getting too bored and not playing anymore. Compared to MGS, MGS2, and MGS3; MGS4 just doesn't seem to have as great replay value as the rest. |
