Death to the Patriots!
I can say i have not brought a CD from a store in at least 6-8 years. The new CD'S that are coming out are being download off limewire by these young kids and Music retailers are suffering greatly. Why spend $20 on a CD when you can download the hole thing for free?. I know i am one of these criminals. What about you guys?

well, i do believe that cd's will become obsolete within about a year or so, and we can expect to see more online music stores. i do believe many stores will suffer but it will be temporary so long as they can keep up with customer mentalities.
it will be similar to the transitions from the record to cd
im at the top of the food chain and bitch im gettin hungry

I buy CDs for 2 reasons:

1) My computer is really old, and downloading something like Limewire would probably blow it up.
2) I'm technologically imcompetent.

Honestly, I'm the complete opposite. I buy a CD pretty much every week or fortnight - I like having the artwork and stuff and, 'cause everyone's downloading, prices've never been lower... I can't really see records in general being phased out particularly soon, and there'll still be music stores open even if it keeps becoming less popular. S'pose I'll keep buying.

Mine too, yay. They don't know much about games, though. I've found many different prices for games. Some even for the same game.

I buy CD's, it's cheaper to pay £10 when you'll have to pay £200 to replace the virus ridden hard drive thanks to limewire.

I own about three hundred CDs, and maybe around 80 vinyl records (that number is steadily growing). I buy from the local music shop as regularly as possible.

And actually, CD prices haven't gone up at all and vinyl is even more reasonably priced.

I buy a cd if i really love the artist, Im not gonna spend 10-15 dollars a CD for about 2 or 3 tracks. plus it makes it more annoying for me as i live in a shitty lil town where theres 2 music stores, a Sight N Sound, and Wal Mart. Wal mart doesnt carry anything for my music, which leaves S&S, which isnt bad, but canadian - making it hard to get underground music instead of the same shitty songs replicated a zillion times by "music artists" nowadays.

Heh, I can remember a few years ago I'd generally be paying £10-15 for a CD, now I'm reluctant to spend over a tenner; the last album I bought was £4. Suits me nicely. ^_^

This.

I have quite an amount of CDs.

I am seriously getting into vinyl though.

As soon as I get a decent record player, I will be buying vinyl as much as possible.

I've never downloaded music in my life, and I don't intend to, CDs may well stop being produced but LPs will never die out, over the last 20 years it has been the most consistent selling format, not necessarily the best selling, but what gets made always gets sold.

Either way it doesn't matter to me, I own one CD, and my personal opinion is that CDs sound absolutely crap, so I don't care if they die, as long as they carry on pressing vinyl, I'll be happy. However, I would be gutted if digital music took over completely, it just lacks essence.

Theres this place by me called The Record Store. Been around since the early 70's. They have everything you can think of, from MGS toys to every comic book known to man. When I started mixing music its where I picked up my records. I still go over there sometimes out of loyalty but when ever I do theres no one in there and there record pickings are becoming slim. I don't see them staying open for another year. Kind of sad really. Singing "MP3 killed the CD store."

Sorry that just makes me sick if im completely honest.

If I love an artist then I preorder there stuff and wait for it; I mean if im just wanting to check out an artist then i'll download there stuff to try it out and if its awesome then i track it down to buy.

I mean its come down to this now; Before I'd download every new release cos I couldnt wait for the CD to drop down at my door. But noww I have the patience to wait.

Time is the death and the healing

I buy CD's. And Music Stores aren't about to die just now, because there are still some people with sensibility to support the bands they like.

It'd be really sad if some day, all music would be in digital form.

I'm still a CD man. I bought two CDs on wednesday and i'm going to be buying Dig Out Your Soul on Monday.

Music stores will always have plenty of people to sell CDs to. I have no worries about that. Just go into your local HMV to see how packed it is in there - and HMV is so expensive as well!
