ive got a prob when playing MGO, and i'm sure only MGO since i also play sm vs raw and gt5 online(with psn). the thing is i get randomly signed out of psn while playing . the interval of getting signed out may range from 20 to 50 minutes ut its really frustrating. and as i said it only occurs in mgo.

Well this is an MGS forum, not a Playstation forum.

But anyway, i haven't had any problem like this myself.

It says it on the details list before your enter the MGO section.

"This is not a support forum. If you're having errors connecting to the PSN or joining games, take it to Konami."

Better take it there for some answers and results. But I bet that it has something to do with your connection settings especially if you're connecting wireless. If you're not check your PS3 settings. Banned IP addresses may cause a problem.

banned ip addresses? u mean Konami bans ip adresses for no reason or wat?

About my conn. settings - i dnt think thats the prob. i play online quite well with other games...although i do have similar problems. the prob with mgo is the frequency of the issue.
P.S i have forwarded the right ports...and tried everything from changing the wireless channel to DMZ my ps3 static ip address.

On a side note... please do not double post. There is an edit button at the bottom left corner of your post to edit or add anything extra you like.

Now... no. I don't mean that Konami banned you but something in your settings is causing the IP address of Konami being banned from your system. This maybe a reason from not connecting to the server. Another possibility is that you have some errors on your PSN identity.

I am no expert in PSN problems (but I am in internet connection problems) but these are the first things you have to check when you have a connection problem. And since you're the only one (at least for now) that has this problem it's possibly occurring by your system and not by Konami.

But again better take it to Konami for a solution. These problems take time in order to be fixed. Be patient.

Well then if you're not the only one, it's probably not your PS3.
But in that case doesn't it sound like it's a Konami problem then?

Okay, I have this problem too...

I love MGO, but it sure makes it difficult to enjoy.

I need more information, what kind of connection do you have? DSL, ADSL, Cable, t1? is it shared?

Very important, wired or wireless?

One setting that helped me I found in the main menu network options was your "Upload rate" if that's set too high you can experience intermittent connections. This also helps if you get a red bar constantly.

It just might have something to do with your internet connection.
On a lot of PS3 games, you can go online with an internet connection, but you cannot play certain online game modes.
It depends on your NAT type (what i'm talking about). I think that NAT type 3 (either that or NAT type 1) doesn't allow you to do certain things online. (e.g. In FIFA 08, if you had the wrong NAT type, then sometimes you couldn't play 1-on-1 games.)
If not that, you might have a firewall on your internet box blocking you.

@ grindbox 240 ... ive got a 256 kbps dsl connection.......and the upload rate in network settings is set to this value....its wireless and i usually share the conn. with my pc which is connected by ethernet (i get signed out even when the pc is off) By the way i trieed decreasing the 256 up rate to i think 196...but no diff-i still get the red bar and do get signed out.

@ Nathan my internet conn. is just fine i can browse the web immediately after im signed out so its not anything to do with the signal strenth or internet conn. abt the firewall part ive got all ports reccomended for psn open as well as the 5730 port for mgs (although i dont host matches)- i have a much better experience with gt5 and sm vs raw 08 which both utilise psn although i do experience drop outs in those games too. i can easily single out psn as the prob since i have NEVER been interrupted while playing online in Pro Evolution Soccer- i dont need to sign into psn to play pes 2008(ironically i get the signed out of psn message while playing it although it does not obviusly affect pes 2008 online.)
Also- people with Nat 2 also experience frequent drop outs- although i do agree it is better to have nat2. i have Nat type 3(dont tell me how to get it—-i've tried everything n i also think it wont make a difference.

Well PES doesn't have many online modes, so it might have something to do with that.
Personally i don't know much about all exact ports.

You'd be best off just to go back to the Playstation forums. They should be able to help since, well, they are the Playstation forums.

Try going all the way down to 96 kbs

also, I set up my PS3 with a DMZ Ip address, that seemed to help too.

... make sure that your roomies or whomever is sharing your connection isn't downloading pr0n torrents 24/7

Something I noticed on Monday evening, when trying to play MGO was that I was running into difficulties even trying to get the EULA before logging in! What was the cause?

As it turns out, my PC was on and AVG was running, performing its weekly virus scan. AVG is a bit infmaous for spamming the AVG server during scans, so it floods your connection. I paused the scan and connected without problems.

So...make sure you don't have any PC's on your connection running AVG! And if you're running wireless, make sure the router is encrypted.
An ass kicking doesn't need translating. It's universally understood.

This Tastes...HORRIBLE!!! Hungry for Some Snake?

If you're using a switch or wireless router, (particularly wireless routers because they suck with any Console Gaming Online including XBOX LIVE), try connecting your Ethernet cable directly to the back of your Playstation 3. If that has been said my bad, I was also about to say something else, but it seems as if I cannot log in because of the PS3 System Update, I'll try not to forget to edit my post tomorrow.

Also check if you have UPNP enabled on your router and PS3 as this will automatically open up the relevant ports required to play games online, and connect to PSN.

Good luck
