I have no idea, but as I said in the edit which you probably missed, why would Mei Ling be in the middle of a battle at all? She's really not a soldier

yeah i thought it was a sword, then increased the brightness and thought it was a stick with a sausage on the end, maybe she was camping out in the hut wen suddenly!... but yeah its most likely the pointer thingy, maybe a little ship on the end, maybe she can poke some serious eye |

I'm hoping that she'll be like some sort of walking playboy mag or something. Maybe her salute would be dropping the stick and then bending down to get it (like she does in the Act 5 briefing) and anyone within range of it would be caught as if she was a playboy mag

haha yeah i know wat u mean, hardly anyone actually picks the GENE maps, its a pain in the arse, watch us all get the MEME pack and no one will use those maps either! i think people fear change and possibly ruining their KDR cause they dont know the map haha i duno, |

I'd say it's more like this People who didn't buy the GENE pack think: "Why should I have to pay for this? This should be free! I'm not gonna encourage KONAMI to try and milk MGS for all they can by paying for this" or "I want to buy the GENE pack, but I can't (either due to a lack of credit card or not having enough spare money)", but obviously the people of the former opinion are forgetting that they didn't pay for MGO, it was free  People who did buy the GENE pack think: "Arr! So few people have bought the GENE pack, that if I set up a game using those maps, I'll hardly get any players. I know these maps are awesome, but there'll be a lot more players, and thereby more fun, if I just stick to the old maps" |

Perfect analysis of the 'nobody plays GENE maps' problem. The thing that annoys me most though is that Konami actually came forward to address the problem and said ''If you play in the SNAKE: EX and LIQUID: EX lobbies, you will get 5 RWD points after every round you play''. I think that was a really nice idea, yet STILL nobody bloody plays in the lobbies! I always go in (or should I say, try to go in) and there's only EVER like 5 people in them! People moan about the RWD points, and people moan about the fact no one plays the new maps. Then Konami give us a solution, and nobody cares! "Unbelievable..."
