Ok so recently i've been playing MGS2 and i kinda suck because i'm a bit rusty havent played for like two years. i decided to play on extreme because i had never tried it so to make a long story short after countless deaths from metal gear rays or solidus' stupid choke hold i finally got to the final fight and now i can't beat this guy can anyone give me a few things to help? i mean i know to block but there has got to be something more for him his rockets are so annoyiing and he moves way to fast.

i tend to just run around him in circles, that way his snake arms and rockets are useless. Although thats on Normal, not sure whether it applies to Extreme. |

I tend to find it easy to beat him when he starts charging at you and you cartwheel into him. Helped me alot.

Just try staying close to him and circle him when he launches the rockets. Also when he takes the tentacles off I think thats the easiest part of the fight because when he does that triangle attack just to a cartwheel and then slice him up. |

Oh man, first the RAYs, then Solidus. MGS2 on extreme was a real nightmare. Outerheaven817 has the right idea when fighting Solidus, because that's how I beat him (though it took me about two weeks to accomplish it...). Also, I could be wrong because it's been a few years since I played MGS2 on extreme, but I seem to remember being able to avoid most of Solidus' attacks (including his rockets) by hanging down on from the ledge. |

I had a tough time with a certain boss fight on the highest setting, before. What I did, was do the fight five times. No real tactic, just check out his moves, and what happens after. On the sixth get some attacks in after he does these moves, when you think it's best; you should know by then the best way of dodging. Then apply it to your final fight. This is if you have enough time and patience.

Well, I haven't played MGS2 on Extreme yet, but I have played it on Very Hard, and even that was tough. My advice would be that whenever he charges at you, cartwheel out of the way and then try and get him from behind. If that doesn't work, repeatedly lunge at him until you break his guard, then strike. The rockets were the pain in the ass to me. What I did was whenever he shot them at me, I waited until they got right at me and then cartwheeled away. I'm not guaranteeing this works, but hey, give it a try. (Btw, I'm new.) |

Dude how do you get past the damn Tengus in Substance I read that you have to just shoot em up or slice them whatever, that Coolant wont work in Substance supposedly. ;( either I die or Snake dies, I've been stuck there forever in that stupid Tengus hall. I wanna destroy those 25 Rays already !! that shit is so easy and fun !!! |

I... never found any part of E. Extreme on MGS2 hard  I beat Solidus on the second try, and I didn't think to block anything... And now I can't remember what the block button is! Is it L1? |

I agree with the blind spot thing that was mentioned, unlike the other difficulties it's hard to sneak up on him without using the blind spot to your advantage. Either that or counter the second he finishes his attack combo. As for the missiles, a good tactic that I found still worked on extreme was to leap off the roof as they get close to you. Since raiden will grab onto the edge and hang automatically the missiles will fly over you and you can pull yourself back up. |

ok here's how i did it and it took me only 7 times.  Anyways when you start off wait till he does an attack and obvisally dodge it. Then while his guards down attack him. When he uses missles run to the edge and hang until they hit the ground. Note to run top the farthestend of the building when you see him about to launch. Keep this up and soon he'll lose the extra arms. Then her'es the fun part. Just block all his attacks and slice him when he's done but still has his guard down. The only time this isn't a smart idea is when he does his thrust couse for some reason that goes right through your guard but he usually announces when he's going to do a thrust. |
