Drebin: You're a green-collar too, aren't you?
Or something along those lines, been a while since playing...
I was under the impression that green-collar referred to somebody whose job was to fight in wars.

A green collar is usually someone who works in agriculture or environmental industries, I have no idea why they use it to refer to soldiers, etc.

Yeah, the best guess would be the war economy: though another could be the producers - who do this alot - dropping subtle references to Big Boss in alot; Big Boss being a part of the Green Berets, who themselve wore green tags on their collars. Though that's probably way too farfetch'd. :P

Probably is the war economy, considering Snake is a factor as big as the PMCs in it's results.

should be doing something else right about now.
the actual reason is because of terms used by working classe's. For example a person who works in an office is called a 'white collar' because they wear a white shirt and tie (of course not everyone weres a white shirt, it's just a generalisation) since they have to look smart for their job.
The same goes for a 'blue collar' who is someone who will wear a boiler suit (again the blue part is a generalisation)
because of their job which could be a mechanic or a electrical engineer.

As for green collar, the green part actually refers camoflauge which is worn by soldiers when they are at war or on exercises, hence someone who works out on the battlefield is known as a green collar because of the fact their occupation is a soldier.

Hope that explained it a bit better.

(Well, it's green for green beret mainly; but I see where you're coming from).

Good to clarify things like this, I often got a tad confused with some of the references from Drebin.

yeah, what everyone keeps referring to as a green collar is an "environmental green collar", otherwise you're a "governmental green collar" which basically means you're somehow related to the/a war in that you make money off of it in some way or form.
