Talk To Me
I recently got an error on my PS3 which doesn't allow me to delete some mp3 files under my music folder, for instance, they are still there and taking up memory however, they can't be played and quite basically don't exist because i deleted them but there still technically there.

Basically, my best and most convenient option is to buy an external hard drive copy all my files over, and then erase the PS3's memory to delete the corrupt files, then transfer all my game saves, trophies ect. back over (this is right? isn't it?)

I am running out of memory so I have wanted more HDD space, my question is what is the the most reliable and cheapest I can get, as I have no knowledge of what to get, also I was looking for one at around 120gb - 160gb?

I also have a 60gb PS3, the first on the market,

Thanks,

The file thing does sound a bit odd - I've not been able to access my PS3 for several months now so I am unaware of what changes might have been made to the system software (if any) or how that might have affected the way in which the system runs.

In terms of getting a new hard drive - I'd have said that sounds like a good idea anyway, especially if you have said that you would like to get one. A 160GB drive will work out cheaper per GB, or even larger ones still. However beyond 160GB is probably a little unnecessary (imho) but this will depend on how often you use the console, how good your ISP is and also how much stuff you typically download etc.

Your profile tells me you are in the UK which means it's easier for me to advise an online store where you can buy things from. Your best bet will be from one of the following online retailers:

ebuyer.com
microdirect.co.uk

These two I have experience with and have bought from before. Some others to consider...

overclockers.co.uk
scan.co.uk
aria.co.uk

You can, of course get things off the shelf from shops like Maplin and PC World, but their prices will be substantially higher and the goods are usually retail boxed instead of OEM versions - which mean that you get the device in a small brown box and that's it, as opposed to manuals and cables etc etc, which I reckon you don't need.

Let me know how it goes.

I would highly recommend the Western Digital My Passport Essential 160GB USB Portable Hard Drive.

I have the 320 version and I have had no problems with it at all.
