Metal Gear Solid news and media have been rather abundant at TGS this year, but there's even more announcements to be made. It appears to be the case that Kojima Productions has started work on a new PSP game: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops 2. We assume that this title will follow the story of the previous Portable Ops game, though as of right now, details are few and far between.
More information can be found on Ashley Wood's blog, the graphic artist who has worked with Kojima Productions for the distinctive, brush-stroke drawings of the Metal Gear Solid comic book and Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel as well as the cut-scenes of MGS:Portable Ops.

Yep, it will continue the story on from where we left off on MPO.
Let's hope it won't be another failure D:

Probably coming out mid 2009...

Uh-huh.

Well I suppose the Les Enfants Terribles chapter needs to be told first-hand... Plus there's still decades between the events depicted in Portable Ops and the events of Metal Gear.

^Exactly.
That's why there will most likely be a sequel. ^^

Yeah... Wood should spend more time properly fleshing out the cutscenes, make them more vibrant and get them properly animated... Also, full colour would be nice too.

I can't see the graphics actually being too updated, MPO was starting to push the PSP's features as is.

I think the colour scheme is fine tbh.
Black and white looks good for her type of drawings; colour will most likely ruin it.

Seconded.

No matter which game you buy in the series, that has online capabilities, you're just gonna end up facing the same fuckwits from MPO1.

Hello Mate!
Well, I'll probably buy it as I'm into my MGS games. But, for it's online capabilities? It's going to be a big no no.

C'mon, MPO+ is just the best they can really do and they can't really add much to it. Also, most people would be on MGO anyway. They might not even put an online option anyway.

So yeah, I'll probably get it, just to get the storyline more clearer.

We have arrived.
So will this technically / actually be the next MGS game? Or is it just gonna use that name to get people to buy it?

Yes, I will be buying this for sure. More than likely another Big Boss chronicle.
And for fucks sake. I know I'm going to get flamed for saying this, but can people stop complaining about noobs, I know it can be annoying, but when a noob kills you just accept it. Trust me, I'm no noob at MPO, but everyone fucking complains about noobs, the whole point of a 'noob' is that you can own them, if they keep killing you, you obviously cant. Hackers, fine - they are shit heads, complain about them. Noobs? Just kill them.

Pretty excited about this, although I doubt there will be any improvements Graphically, in game or cutscene.

Another failure? You seriously think MPO1 was a failure? Damn.

Personally I really hope they don't make any expansions on this game, because MPO+ ruined MPO, it rendered all the uniques useless. I used to love kicking ass with Null and Python, now it's like two hits they die.

I'm actually rather curious about this game because it will mean Python and Null are back with Foxhound and I really want to see what becomes of Gray Fox and Python, if Python will die or if Gray Fox will face off against Naomi's parents.

Frankly, I just hope the online levels have more urban levels and less city and base levels.
