Pretty happy to be honest. But the entire series was wrapped up with MGS4, this will surely just be more back-story. I am hoping it isn't in the style of MPO, the whole recruiting soldiers thing, I liked it, but I want one Character from start to finish to be brutally honest. |

I would like it if it was one character start to finish too. But they could also have it that you unlock a new charcter to play thru each time you get a certain rating. First run as Big Boss, then say you unlock Ocelot. |

EX. FUCKING. ACTLY! Why ruin perfectly capable soldiers? Now all I get when I play online as Snake is RPG and Autolock spam 'cos it's easy ![]() Isn't that right, Kreativ.... Anyway, I made this list on *some other MPO+ Forum * and thought I'd bring it up here.Just remember, these are IDEAS, that I'm throwing around. I'm not saying I'm going to see them all in the game, or they're even being created by the programmers and game staff... but here's my wish list ![]() 1.STORY MODE -The Story should show Big Boss becoming the antagonist, or the events that lead up to it. It needs to be involved, and just as good as any console MGS. -Could be set during the Liberian Civil War. -Linear, long game play like MGS3, not mission-based. -More than just 4 item slots in Story mode, fits in with the long mission. -Put the army management into the background or get rid of it entirely, and focus solely on Big Boss. It'sd not like he needs to gather more recruits now right? -More in-game dialogue. -New Metal Gear, transitory between RAXA and TX-55. -New Bosses with interesting and involved back stories? Is that too much to ask? -New maps that are detailed and interesting, taking advantage of different moves from the MGS universe. -Enemy soldiers that fully work together as a squad to take you down. -Plot twist after plot twist, double-and triple-crossing. Ocelot has to play a larger part. -The higher the difficulty, the more secrets revealed at the end of the game. -Varied environments, including Jungles and swamps, proper urban zones, and subterranean caves. -Traps like spiked logs as well as laser-activated trip bombs and junk. -Random hazards in maps, like twigs to be stepped on to alert nearby guards. -Makeshift weapon creation (can anyone say Lighter+Aerosol Can=Flamethrower?! )2. ONLINE MODE -Create-a-Soldier Mode -At least 6 weapon slots instead of 4. -Option to disable autolocking completely. Autolock does not make for a good online game. This will start to introduce free-aiming matches, and force lazy autolockers to improve.... -Cut down the lag as much as possible. -New game modes, such as Defend the Base and others -Poses that are activated by 2 or more people. (Dancing, Handshake, Crotch Grab) -Team support- give ammo or a weapon to a team mate in trouble. -Enhanced CQC, where players can initiate chokeholds. The player being choked can struggle to free themselves. -Online Boss battles, one player (or a bot) plays as the boss and the others take it down. Epicness ensues. -10-player online modes, with dynamic map scaling. -New, unique maps not found in Story Mode, as well as 'old' maps like the ones from MGO1 (Never played it so I can't name any :P) -A Lobby chat room, organise matches without having to enter one. -Expand the friend/black list to about 50 for each. -The ability to change your weapons/equipment in infrastructure mode. Trekking back to the briefing mode sucks hard. -ONLINE CLAN REGISTRATION -The ability to change your username (though still limited to 3 accounts) -Proper clan wars like on MGO 3.EXTRA FEATURES -Unique Characters -Unlockable clothing/skins for characters (IE For Big Boss, other costumes are Naked Snake, Solid Snake, Old Snake, etc) *Every single character from every game (as non-canonical Bonuses) *Young versions of later bosses/characters -Botmactches for the players who can't get online but still like multiplayer. -If the squad based play of Story Mode remains, make it so you can issue basic orders to your active squad members. -No More S A B C ranked soldiers. -Different FPS screen filters. Snake’s eyepatch covers the right fifth of the screen, Raiden's floppy emo fringe appears at the top of the screen, soldiers with balaclavas have fuzzy peripheral vision, High-Tech Soldiers have a yellow tint to everything, etc. -More standard animations, like rolling, running, dying etc, and a random death animation. Ragdoll maybe? -Create-a-soldier mode -Crazy Minigames unlocked by beating the Story mode on higher difficulties -Weapon upgrading/customisation system. You can make several versions of each weapon, and if the soldier holding it dies, you lose it, though you can create another. *Rate of Fire *Ammo capacity *Recoil *Suppressors *Accuracy *Zoom Scopes *Range -Co-operative Story Mode, with extra areas and objectives. -Super Infinity Mission- Starts out easy, then gets progressively harder, infinitely. Can Fulton out at any time. -Game (and features) are printed on multiple discs. -Pre-game quizzes determine what difficulty you start on. I miss that so much ![]() -The ability to use the pistols present on character models. -Crouching run- not as fast as regular run, but you stay semi-hidden. -Ability to change firing modes of weapons. -Pre-backup alerts don’t count toward the final score, as long as you take them down before anyone else hears. -Bullets now leave marks, and explosions leave large scorches in the ground/walls. -Blood sprays are included -Special hidden weapons located in secret areas. These weapons will only come from the secret areas. -New, more-polygon character models. |

Bosses with interesting back stories? That's one thing MPO actually succeeded in. These guys were all really deep, each one as unique as the other. Gene: A product created to be the perfect battlefield commander, at length with The Boss, immensely powerful and has the charisma to drive his soldiers into battle for their nation. He's essentially the Anti-Big Boss. Cunningham: The only real bad guy among FOX, just in it for selfish gain, while at the same time, is a man fueled with some hatred because of the CIA sending Cunningham back after losing his leg, and how they sent Big Boss to kill The Boss. He was definitely not a one trick pony, he's MPO's second in command villain like Ocelot, Volgin, Fortune and Vamp. Python: I wish he had more game time but he was perfect, a man forced to fight because of the CIA, bound to his suit, and haunted by all the men he's killed. Null: Gray Fox, what more can you ask? Elisa/Ursela: I loved their little twist and how they were being tested on like rats until Gene came. What I loved was how each persona sided with both sides. The good persona Elisa sided with Snake while Ursela sided with Gene, just total counter opposites on the battlefield. And what I loved was how Elisa was both grateful to Gene for saving her, while at the same time, terrified of him for what he is capable of. I actually liked this cast of bosses more than MGS3 by far, and MGS4 too minus Vamp and Liquid. MPO2 may have to really work hard to top MPO. But out of curiosity, where is the actual link proving MPO2 is coming? |

Technically, they did have backstories, but not as much as say MGS1 or 2. The bosses there told their stories as they died, I guess it's kinda corny and clique'd, but you got a real feeling that you'd killed a person, not a bunch of polygons. Boss Rush turned them into drones even more... ![]() And MGS3? Don't get me started on MGS3. No backstory whatsoever for the Pain, Fear, End, and Fury, all we know about them is their powers and the fact that they led the allies to victory in WW2. We know the Sorrow and the Boss got it on, but that was only to include Ocelot in the series and create drama during the course of the game, and to explain how Liquid Ocelot came into existence. (Family history of talking to the dead+ Dead arm with nanomachines with the host's 'memory' implanted=possession )And we had to find out more about the Boss, because she's one of the primal driving forces behind MGS3. But, everything we didn't 'have' to know was conveniently left out... MPO did it better, but not by much. For example, we don't really know that much about Cunningham apart from what you described. There should be more opportunities to call up say Sigint or EVA and find out more about the bosses. Like in MGS2, with the whole slew of cutscenes devoted to Fatman... |

Yeah but what more did you really need to know about him? He wasn't even a one trick pony, he was in a number of cutscenes, we see him torturing Snake, ambushing Snake, and single handedly slaughtering Snake's men until getting his hover craft run over by a truck. We know he worked for the CIA, defected to FOX, and was conspiring against both sides. What was cool about Null was that he didn't even know who he was, he needed Snake to tell him for him. I just don't understand why so many people say FOX is just barely better than the Cobras. |

MGS1 was the best format to produce a Tactical Espionage Action game. It had everything - there were barely any flaws. Easily the best PSX title there is, and, arguably, one of the best platformers in existence. The bosses, as stated by High-Tech Soldier, told their story as they died. We learned a lot from them, and in doing so this gave us a thorough understanding of who they were. It was these little things that made the game simply awesome. And you know what was cool? How you could get more ammo, life, item capacity, etc. after each boss battle. That was the icing on the cake - more ammo! Lots of little features that make you want to play the game through at least three times, perhaps more. There are an extreme amount of things that make MGS1 different from the others. Never played MGS4, but I have a feeling that it isn't like MGS1 from what I've seen on YouTube. |

MGS4 is kinda slow paced. It's nothing like MGS; you earn "Drebin" points for killing people and doing missions etc... O_o You can also get any gun you want just by buying them by pressing start; no need to go to a hsop or whatever. The bosses are pretty good, they require more strategic thinking. I was on Mantis for about 30 mins spraying P90 clips and firing RPG's at it when there was such a simple way to do it -.- Vamp is really gay and I had to go to Youtube to find out how to kill him D: |

Ah k. I liked the way MGS made full use of the PSX's capabilities, though. The torture sequence with the rapid pressing of the circle button, the switching controller ports to beat mantis, etc. and even showing Ocelot's reload time. Only wish for MGS1 is that they could have made it a little harder on extreme. Perhaps for the Hind they could have made the stinger do barely any damage, and make you have to hit it a hundred times or something? |

You forgot Mantis showing off his psychic powers on your controller, as well as reading your 'past' by seeing what other Konami games you had saved on your Memory Card... ![]() And in MGS3, the Sorrow's boss fight is altered depending on how many people you kill, and you can easily beat the End by saving, then setting your PS2 system clock ahead 4 days. So the MGS series is full of innovative things like that. BUT, this isn't about MGS1, or 3 or 4, this is about MPO2. The whole thing that pissed me off about MPO was the fact that the majority of the maps you played on were 'online' maps, so they were small and open-ended. Like Silo Entrance, or Supply Depot. The 'offline only' maps like Warhead Storage and Silo Complex were more like the good old-fashioned maps from any PS1 or 2 MGS. |
