The point is, though, that Big Boss' bandana is green, so the whole black or gray thing is moot. |

The point is OD doesn't seem to match it. I have looked at countless pictures and have stared at Big Boss in-game and Dark Slate Gray matched the best imo. |

No, I'm not. I think you're missing my point. I certainly don't care what someone picks for their Big Boss outfit, but to say that the bandanna that is the correct color is not as good, without offering an explanation, strikes me the wrong way because I'm a bit OCD when it comes to logic. Saying "I think the slate gray is better, because it fits my overall outfit more" would be acceptable, or saying "Because the OD green bandanna isn't to my personal liking as much" is fine too... But when presented with the same bandanna that Big Boss actually wears in MGS3, and saying that another color better represents it without offering any such explanation, no, that makes no sense whatsoever. It would be like me saying "I'm going to get a haircut like Snake, so I'm shaving my head. That is all." So once again, please explain. |

Actually the official colour of Big Boss's bandanna in MGS3 is Teal. For example look at this image: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/25/Teal_ribbon.svg/370px-Teal_ribbon.svg.png (A little too bright but it's still teal in colour) Anywho if you want the closest look go for either Olive Drab, Dark Slate Gray, Black or Navy Blue Even better get them all then you can switch it up depending on your mood. |

Mind proving that? Because, to be honest, that looks nothing at all like the his bandanna color. I suggest getting checked for proper color vision. |

He said that the colour of Big Boss bandanna is Teal. The colour, not its shade. Here is a darker shade of Teal: http://www.hottubcovers.net/imgs/colors/color-teal-green.jpg Compare that to BB's bandanna here: http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/111/374/180px-Naked_Snake.jpg Akarou actually doesn't need to 'get checked for proper colour vision' after-all  If I remember rightly, the MGS3 official strategy guide speaks of how Snake earns his 'Teal' bandanna from The Boss on the bridge of Dolinovodno. He certainly does if he is comparing what he posted to the bandanna. It's not even close to what you posted.
The same kind of official strategy guides that said Big Boss lost his eye in the 80's in the MGS1 version? You don't have post a picture of Big Boss's bandanna. I know what it looks like. After all, I posted these images that no one seemed to notice:    So in other words, your "darker shade of teal" is just another name for green. Which is what I've been saying the bandanna was all along. This is like the Caldera eye color battle all over again. |

I wonder if you realise that teal is a shade of green. Having a shade of a shade takes away the point of it being called a shade, tbh. There isn't a colour 'teal'. Technically, teal is a hue of the green spectrum, not a shade. And teal is in fact a colour. Just because it is not a particularly wide band of colour on a rainbow does not de-classify it as a colour. Instead of referring to colours with ambiguous nouns, I suggest that we refer to them as their RGB or HSL values. Edited by White Walrus, Apr 15 2009, 03:14 AM.

No, it being a shade of green declassifies it as a colour. Also, games, T.V etc all use RGB not HSL. |

Btw guys, can I just point out. That the guy who wanted to know about the bandanna has probably bought his own by now. Also, regardless of whether BB's bandanna is Teal or not, you can't buy Teal in the Reward Shop. I think that we've strayed off of topic a bit (my fault lol). |

Yeah, the same MGS1 guide that was retconned years later. When that guide was made (well before the days of the MGS3 story ever being planned by Kojima), the official story was that Big Boss lost his eye in the 80's. They're called 'official' strategy guides for a reason, right? Also, you don't have to post pictures of Big Boss' bandanna either. We all know what it looks like as well. Whether his bandana is Teal, Grey, Olive Drab (etc) doesn't really matter. Whether they themselves typed it in right or wrong doesn't really matter to me. All I'm saying is that I read it in the strategy guide. Make of it what you will. As you said, this is turning into another Caldera 'what colour are Snake's eyes' debate, and I don't want to be a part of that lol. This is why I bought one in Navy Blue to match Solid Snake's bandana... And Big Boss' is Olive Drab... I don't get how people see it as any other color. |

I'm trying to get one of my charactors to match big boss as well. But i think i've wasted part of my life reading a thread debate over colour lol. I got my bandana in green. |
