I used to think MGS was rather exclusively an "intelligent gamer's franchise" until I started using MGS forums really. No offence to the users on some of the MGS boards I've used, but a lot of them are fucking retarded (and when I say "no offence", I'm lying). None of my friends are particular fans, really. A few of them played 2, and especially Substance. I've got a few friends who I know purely online who are big fans like me, but not so much in real life. On the note of girls and MGS, the only girl I know irl who has played MGS is my sister, but she's only played MGS3. I was at uni and left a console at home and she played MGS3 for whatever reason. She got to like The Fear without dying (on the easiest setting but still that's quite impressive for a casual imo) and then got to The Fury before she stopped playing. However from what she said she wasn't using stealth at all really which defeats the point. But I digress. Anyway, on the note of appearances, I assume I look relatively normal, but I don't think the way I look has any real bearing on why I'm a big MGS fan... if you really want to see me, then here's my Photobucket; go nuts. |

Well personally I hate how people think we players are just ugly, or fat, or really thin, or palid white, whatever the shit they believe. I always see us players characterized by the typical guy like that, or people who look like otacon but even more otacon than otacon is :O I know you understood what I meant. I've seen good looking people in the forum, and sad for example is who I have always in mind in my daily multiple masturbations :D. About street smarts, well either you have them or you either get daily robbed here in argentina, sucks. Anyway, personally I consider myself attractive. I am athletic, not to be like all over myself but I have a pretty good body since I have been doing martial arts for 10 years now, and there's nothing wrong with my face, I have posted some pics here in the members pic. So I'm just a normal guy, people never see me and realize I'm a player, and a guy who really really loves video games and anime. And when I say love I mean i'm fucking crazy about it, I love those more than any other things generally people of my country is interested in. Still, I also like other stuff, but what I like the most are video games and anime. So I'd love to see people making a movie and put a normal guy, a guy who's got talent, or even a though guy who likes anime and video games, because always the weakest or the most nerd are interested in them. Not always, but since you don't believe me, there's my point. People who live in some countries which are way better than here don't realize what happens in some third world countries because they don't live it. I don't really know where you are from, but it's not cool to actually walk some blocks to get home after working being totally aware of everything because you have in mind you can get robbed any time, or that maybe someone is waiting for you, or anything. It's not like it happens all the time, but it happens very often to people in here. Don't believe me, but those things happen, maybe not to you but they happen. People in the world don't realize what people in countries like here or brazil for example have to live, the insecurity. Of course not every place of Argnetina is like that, but mostly is, if you still don't believe me you can always look for information of argentina on internet. It's mainly to reflect what happens and for people to know that, to realize that.

Considering it has the 23rd highest GDP in the world, yeah, i'd say it isn't 3rd world. I'd say since you can afford the internet yeah, it's not. I'd say considering there aren't more than half of the population starving, yeah it's not. i'd say since it's a part of G20, yeah, it's not. It's not a wrong idea dude, your country sure as shit may not be the richest country in thr world, but it's not even close to third world. Actually, i'd say it's worlds away from third world (ohohohohoho) |

You're not realizing how unbalanced it is here, and a third world country doesn't mean everyone is just starving. I can afford internet, a 3rd world country doesn't mean everyone is poor, or that everyone must be starving to death. There are people who are damn rich in this country, and a way lot more people who are starving, and people who are just poor. I don't believe you actually discuss with me about the place I live in, people here can't afford shit that comes to the country because a dollar here costs almost four pesos which is the money used in argentina. Everything keeps getting more expensive, and people earns less money. It's the course this coutnry is following. The government is damn corrupt, the only way to see how the country really was was by Clarin, the main channel for the media here, and there's a law that was recently implemented which will prevent it from working, it will censure it's information, so every fucking detail on the media will be check and what those mafia men from the government doesn't want us to see, we don't. And the worst thing is that everyone realizes the corruption but no one can do anything, because the ones called piqueteros go to manifestations and simply start disturbions and even killed people who were protesting against the government. The leader of this piqueteros group, Federico D'elia is the one in charge, and he has a charge in the governement, and is close to the president Cristina Kirchner. Don't come teach me about my country, you don't live here, the fact that it's in the 30 GDP (not 23) doens't mean anything, it just mean there's money here, but you don't realize it's not used in a good way. For example, the government invested 600 million pesos just to buy the channels that transmits sports, while people is fucking dying. There's money, it's just that the ones in charge of it are some fucking assholes who spend it just for their benefit, almost every person in the government. And this is the capital city, lot of people who live in the other provinces don't even have electric power, not even have a roof. A province, corrientes, has a lot of poor people who is starving to death. Don't believe what you think you see in wikipedia or other sites, search for sites from here Argentina, like Clarin.com. What also doens't mean anything is that it is a part of the G20. So what? The country is not growing in any way, it's getting worse and worse. We have plenty of resources, the land here is great, the meat here is one of the best in the world, the water here is also really good, and it's all being bought by other countries like USA. The potential of being a 1st world country, yes argentina has, but the reality is way different. Forget about trying to make it look like if it wasn't a third world country, it is, look for more information and you'll know. And dude, check the list, Mexico is ahead of us, so is Iran, and India. You tell me those countries are doing good? That clearly doesn't mean anything. EDIT: LINK This is teh first article that I could find in english which shows a little how people is being lied here in their face, and since the official government lies in their official statements, they too lie to the whole world. I'm fully aware of Argentina, and it's history and the state of the country. However, it's not a third world country. Every country has massive problems with corruption, and starvation, but the fact is, Argentina has a low poverty rate (18%) and a high income per person. Argentina isn't even comparable to a third world country like Sudan. I'm not denying Latin America has suffered a lot because of North America and Europe, but Argentina is probably the 'best' out of all the countries in Latin America. I'd MUCH rather live in Argentina than Malawi. |

The best country in latin america is either Brazil or Mexico, clearly not argentina. About the poverty rate, it's not the 18 percent, have you not read the article? The stadistics the government give us are a lie, private experts on the subject give numbers way differen than the government. And obviously those are the official stadistics, so those are shown to the whole world. I'm not saying it's teh worst country in the world, but it is a third world country, be sure of it, the fact that others third world countries are worse doesn't mean it isn't.

There was no mention of the poverty rate in the article, and the statistics I got are from the World bank, not your government. Even if they're wrong, they're not 'way different' IT'S NOT A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY ARGGGHHHH Edited by £, Oct 22 2009, 11:29:22 PM.

They're way different to the real stadistisc, the article just showed how the government lies to the people. The indec also tells the poverty rate. And the world bank's stadistics surely will be alike the ones from the government, you think other countries like USA would want the world to know how poor these countries are? why? If they just tell the world they're not that bad, they can keep extracting resources from them. From us. Anyway if you want to keep discussing I'll be back in a few hours, I have to go right now. GAAH YEEEH IT IS

Theorically, every not-aligned-country is third world, we have the wrong perception of what first, second and third world mean. And the best country in South America is Chile, oh yeah... It's not perfect but it's the most secure country in the continent... Bad thing the actual President sucks, but it's ok, nothing lasts forever. I live in Bolivia and it's cool... Full of thieves too but I'm not worrying about it as I live in the country... And yes I have broadband internet a PS3 and games and many other things like you guys do... Bolivian President sucks too, hahaha, so ignorant and USA hater, kicked out USA Ambassador and other stuff... So... WTF. And stop fuckin' fighting in my topic or I'll kill you bastards. |

I'm from London Shal, and I've been mugged and assaulted a whole bunch of times. I know what it's like, it's just Argentina is not really the first country I think of when someone talks about dangerous streets or whatever. I knew about Brazilian slums and how dangerous it is there but Argentina is not really a country that's brought up when it comes to this discussion. But, I believe you - I have no reason not to, I just think it's interesting. |

Dangerous and poor it may be, but when I think of a Third World country I don't think about high mugging rates and low incomes, I think of civil war, widespread famine and lack of humanitarian support. Now I've never been to Argentina, I have no intention of ever going near Argentina so I'm an outsider looking in, but I wouldn't consider Argentina a Third World country. But I really don't see what this has to do with generalizing MGS gamers. |
