It is cheating. Doesn't matter if its 'just a controller'. At the end of the day, anybody who purchases one of these things is trying to get an unfair advantage over other players. Nearly every MGO player uses a standard PS3 controller. I can guarantee anybody of that. If that wasn't the case, then someone would have seen hundreds of discussions on this issue around the web. But alas, there are barely any discussions on the web about these 'controllers'. Henceforth hardly anybody uses them, and anybody who does so is trying to gain an unfair advantage by breaking away from the usual regime of how the game is meant played. The game is intended to be played with a standard PS3 controller. Anybody who can't feel satisfied with the game by using one should either: -Get good by playing more. -Get over the fact that they probably aren't very good on the game. -Stop caring about how good they want to be and just play the game for fun. -Stop playing it. The mentality that makes people say "This game is hard. Is there an easier way to do it?" is the same mentality that ends up turning people into cheaters and glitchers. In my eyes, it really is that simple. |

i can see where you are coming from and i have stoped using it for MGO and have realized that i am WAY better with a dualshock 3 controller, and also i have learned and am doing really well now, (look at sig and also i am almost BB-) i only use it for killzone 2 and resistance 2 cus ,lets face it, FPS's werent made for consoles, the controllers are just not made for it, so i use it on FPS games, i dont care if i am labled as a cheater, i actually laugh when people call me a cheater for using it, the bottom line is, I spent the money on a peice of equipment that I wanted and I will use it when I want to. i dont mean to sound like a self centered bastard, its just that if i spent the money on it and it is not breaking any sort of game agreement or tampering with the game (really, a controller isnt tampering with the game) then it is legal to be used in my eyes. hey it may not be fair, but if someone is that worried about it they should either petition some sort of legal ban by law for it, just get over it, or buy one themselves. now please I SAID THIS WAS NOT A HATE TOPIC FOR A REASON. be constructive or post about it on your own thread. THAT INCLUDES U SOVIET UNION AS WELL. |

Go read my post. Please, point out to me where I say "You are a cheater". Then, tell me where it says that because I'm having trouble finding that part.  I was saying on principle, that in my view external and unofficial controllers (that are used to an advantage) are cheating in my opinion. We don't have 'hate topics' on MGSF, plain and simple. If there are any, they are closed and the culprits usually warned. With 210 posts to your name, I thought you would know that. Two things. Firstly, how do you define the word 'constructive'? You made a thread about a controller, everybody has voiced their opinion on it. Do you really think that everybody on here is going to post replies of "Wow you got a new controller! Great work, well worth the money!". Errr, no. People are going to post their OPINIONS on the matter. That's what an online forum is built for. Secondly, this isn't "your thread". You posted a topic, which therefore means that you are putting your opinion/scenario out into a public domain, of where under this climate you will receive opinions in return. basicly what i understood by it is that anyone that buys this controller is a cheater, and i take pride in the fact that i dont glitch or cheat or anything of that sort. i do have to apologize for my rant, i wasnt quite thinking when i posted it, but whatever i dont want this to turn into an huge argument or anything so, lets just forget about it. |

no need to apologise brah, this is what dabate is about. Im surprised you thinks the controller is cheating tho, i dontuse one but i cant see how it is persoanlly. If its available to buy for the PS3 and the game allows you to use it then its not taking an unfair advantge cos it might turn out that you play worse with it. Cheating is cheating. Does anyone that puts a dot on their screen a cheater too? |

...Rapid-fire pads are and have been available for ages, they have become popular with CoD a lot over the past couple years, so much so there were updates for the games put in place to stop them working, they basically do the same thing, give you an advantage over everyone else, how can some people not class that as cheating? I thought the point of most online games was the fact everyone either has the same advantages and disadvantages, or you can ern things, like unlockable items and such, simply paying for some hardware that changes how the game feels for you is completely unfair on people who believe things should be balanced and fair. But hey, thats just my opinion, the amount of people online with said controllers proves there are many that disagree, but the amount of hate they get shows i'm not the only one who thinks like this... |

I'm gonna have to say... Gally has bought me out with his opinion on the controller. Perhaps it isn't cheating, but it IS an advantage. The game is meant to be played with a PS3 standard controller, hell, the game even makes references towards it...(Looks at Snake's hands while steering the Mk. II during the single player storyline). |

I don't agree at all. Also the reasoning that because not much players use it means it's cheating is not valid IMHO. It's not a turbopad either. It's a controller that makes you aim by using a mouse. That is all. It's for players that are used to PC gaming but want to play certain games that aren't available on PC. Which I think is a very small group. The reason why people don't use it much I think would be: - They don't know about it; - Players choose to play with a controller otherwise they'd go and play FPS on a PC ( most people play they're PS3 on a couch with their feet up the table and not behind a table). and last but not least: - it's just not an advantage maybe? |

yea i some games its actually a disadvantage for it is emulating the movement of a joystick. in Resistance 2 its almost impossible to use for since the aiming is instant movement, not gradual, the frag fx makes it jittery and almost impossible to use standard guns and totally impossible to snipe. KZ2 i do about the same with either so since the standard controller is smaller i just use that, and for MW2 i havnt tried it yet but im doing REALLY good with standard controller. so i might have gotten this controller for nothing. |

I really don't see how a FRAG FX controller would work on most things in MGO though... In games like TSNE, it just seems too much of a hassle... Either way, I don't think it should be used in the game. |
