Display settings for MGO; HDTV video lag

Ok, so I'm getting better with headshots the semi hard way...using ar3. But I still get headshotted like 2:1 or 3:1. 1on1 within 10 feet (in game) or long range, I seem to fire 2-3xs as many rounds as my opponent...different weapons, same results 8 of 10 I die they don't.

So my curiosity has begun to grow on the matter of HD display lag. My PS3/Phillips 47" LCD 1080p setup always auto selects to 1080p widescreen, but I wonder if 1080i (or any other setting) would be better? I'm not sure what I have my other TV settings at like: game mode, contrast, brightness, noise reduction, dynamic contrast, etc..

I've also not tried playing on SDtv either, may try that this evening. Or should I accept that I'll never become anything higher than lvl10 because I simply suk :D .

Any suggestions?

Better quality = beter player. Doesnt make a huge difference, but on my old SD tv I would never have spotted a floating knife from across the map in G.G.

That was my thinking...played through MGS4 twice on my SDtv. Started my 3rd on the HD and didn't really notice a diff there, but online is totally different (+ this is 1st OL game 4 me). I was merely considering the possibility of processing lag on the tv.

Maybe I'd benefit from the dot trick? I do find myself aiming then trying to turn, thus getting shot as I pop off my 1st shot. I need some serious training.

It's best not to use any AR skill.
It doesn't make you a noob if you use it, but it's a better idea NOT to because it gives you room to use other skills.

Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots along with almost every other PS3 game, plays best with 720p.
So, try and make it 720p...it'll help a lot, and it'll look even better, trust me.

My television adjusts itself automatically whenever I enter a game if it needs 720p.

Personally, I think it's much less enjoyable on an SD television...
So much time was spent on the graphics of the game, I just love to stare at them sometimes. XD They look great. :P

No one stays a Level 10. Keep playing and you'll get better.

That's the info I was looking for, will try that later today.

Right, but there are also more reasons.
Mainly reasons such as Sir Killsalot's reason.

You wouldn't be able to spot a floating knife as easily.
It also helps find Gillie and other camouflage easier in my opinion.

Do you hold R1 and just spray as opposed to tapping R1 when firing?

I suggest you try switching your rifle to single shot, whether it be the AK or M4. The AR+ skills never made much of a difference in my shot, but I noticed a huge difference immediately when I started using single shot. It's just much more accurate.

Give it a shot. I'm sure you know how, but in case you don't, just hold R2 and hit triangle when the weapon is selected. You'll see it change.

also, i say that you sghould try the tapr dot thing for a little bit and take it off after a litlle bit of u should take it off and you should see a good improovement in your centering when shooting, ui did this and after i took the tape off its like you never did and you are still just as good because your mind calibrates to it. but just keep playing and also keep watching how better people play and learn from them and you will improove

Think of it like this.. Over the shoulder view is where you should aim, holding L1 with the crohhairs is for minor adjustments only.

I love Over-the-Shoulder view.

Like my friend said,
"He pops heads with it every time I see him play". XD

I wish FPV had more use than scope/knife. It's pretty pontless being there really.

EDIT: I know the game isn't COD, but I use FPV alot during MGS games, so naturally when I first started on MGO, I tried using it alot then. Even had Hawkeye on for a while. xD

*sigh*
Remember when they showed us the very very very first view we'll get of MGO?
The gun was in the bottom right corner like in CoD4 and every other FPS game really hahah.
But, it was SOOO KICKASS!
The M4 had an EoTech scope and everything.

God I jizzed in my pants when I saw that.
Now, I'm very disappointed with the FPV.

Single shots ftw! It's more accurate and powerful. For some reason I now find it easier to get headshots with a Mk2 than a rifle. And it's more satisfying seeing them fall asleep for an easy kill :D

Tried single shot and burst for a while, but seemed I got popped more often that way. So yeah, basically I'm a spray noob lol . Very different than the real thing to me, in the Army I was usually upper mid level on weapon quals, only fired expert twice. Was better at dropping the 300m targets than the 50m....then again they weren't moving side to side or back & forth.

this guys is right, i played countless games sprying my opponents heads only for them never to die. Either tap the shoot button or change the settings to single shot (semi-auto)
i found these skills helped me out the most in battle, in most variations of the game, i enjoy the stealthy approach

well bbut what do you guys think is the best resolution/TV to play MGO on?
When I first got my 32", I was playing mgo with the PS3 set to 1080p... I found maps like H.H impossible to aim on... it seemed like when the frame rate dropped, it dropped hard.
But I've since changed down to 720p and find mgo a lot more smooth and responsive.

That's one thing I find annoying about console games in general, you can't opt to turn off eye-candy in favour of a smoother frame rate. For me a part of the game looking visually nice is having a smooth frame rate.

The game looks better on 720p anyway.

It's more blurry on 1080p.
