Anyone got their creative juices flowing and made something they were particularly proud of? Or not proud of?

I'm doing this secret santa thing with my family and I had to think of something to get my uncle. He's in his 50's, I believe and is generally a pretty laid back guy. I could be boring and get him something golf related because he's into that but, I thought it'd be cool to make something... (and save some money in the process; thereby not contributing too much to the mass consumerism that's at the heart of this holiday.)

Anyway, I've made things I've seen on this website before: http://www.instructables.com/home

Particularly, I made an "invisible bookshelf": http://www.instructables.com/id/Invisible-Book-Shelf/

Here's the one I made (hey, look, a book with my name in it):

Cool, eh?

Well, I'm planning on doing something a bit different for my uncle's gift: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-a-Dali-Style-Melting-Clock/

I haven't started it, yet. I just found this about 10 minutes ago so, I have to wait until tomorrow before I can go out and get the materials... I don't think there are any thrift shops open on Sunday so...

I know there have at least been some clothing/shoe modders on the forum and I didn't really think this would fit in the 'Fine Arts' section but I'm just curious to see if there have been any cool diy/homemade projects that our little community has made.

Post away.
