That Joe McElderey guy said he HATES Rage Against The Machine and their "dreadful" song...
Sounds like sour grapes to me.

I don't even try. Why would I?

I'd have cared more at all if I liked Rage. Or the song. Or if what was at number 1 at Christmas was in any way shape or form arse-worthy to me. But neither are the case.

Well I don't think it really matters who the band is, what really matters is challenging the X-Factor's monopoly over Christmas number one which they have held for what, five, maybe six years?

Yeah. All the way through the campaign, he's been saying about how Rage's song "isn't music". One thing I love though is the ever-so-obvious attempt at saving face.

Report on Joe McElderry during the campaign

The pint-sized pop star, who hadn't heard the track until yesterday, expressed a deep loathing for his Christmas number one competitor.

He blathered to The Sun: "They can't be serious! I had no idea what it sounded like. It's dreadful and I hate it. How could anyone enjoy this? Can you imagine the grandmas hearing this over Christmas lunch?

"I wouldn't buy it. It's a nought out of ten from me. Simon Cowell wouldn't like it. They wouldn't get through to boot camp on The X Factor - they're just shouting."
Source

Report after the campaign

As for the eighteen-year-old X Factor winner Joe McElderry, he praised the campaign and its outcome, saying that he was happy to have been part of exciting and hyper-hyped battle.

The budding star was obviously gracious in defeat and didn’t seem to hold any sort of grudges towards the camoaign initiators or the band Rage Against The Machine.

Fail.

The thing is, I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that The Sun either fabricated those quotes with his permission, or they goaded him into saying something vaguely similar. Either way, I doubt something that stupid really came from his mouth.

Why would he give permission to fabricate those quotes?

£££, PR and hype.

His publicist would of probably arranged it.

I mean if you saw that actual article it was ridiculous. They had a picture of him throwing darts at a picture of Zack De La Rocha.

What he said Is not that unbelievable especially since it was during when he probably thought they weren't a big threat.

@GJV I think someone said you were American a while back and I saw you in some pics of a play or something it just looked real American, my apologies my fellow Brit.

Actually the fact that this happened does make it seem a bit gay.

: ( sorry
I had their cd in 1992 and supported them twice in 1993, once was when they began the day at Lollapalooza 93, another time was with House of Pain and Cypress Hill a few months later in the winter. But by the third cd I was no longer interested. I thought their political statements started overshadowing the music itself. The bassist's tantrums and anti-social behavior always bothered me too, as well as some of the Che loving fans.

They were innovative in the early 90s, but these days I'd rather listen to something else less angry and preachy. But my favorite song was Know Your Enemy. I also liked many songs from Evil Empire but haven't listened to it in ages.

It has to do with the conditions and how it was executed, TKM. Nothing with a conspiracy theory, it just makes sense really.

I think it makes perfect sense that Kurt Cobain wasn't the only figure present in his death. Saying that still makes me sound like a conspiracy theorist, no? So all the same for Null assuming someone actually got paid to say that shit XD

Wut?

Yeah because the X factor is all about the music, right?

Nah, because Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain.

AND THAT'S A FACT. :)

But anyway, that's two totally unrelated things.

Businesses wanting to make money isn't a conspiracy, and if you think it is, you have the most ridiculous concept of a conspiracy theory ever.

Its best not to comment if you aren't aware of how media and in particular tabloids work. How is it anything near conspiracy theory? Its just fact. People are paid to say stuff like that all the time. How is thinking Cobain was murdered anywhere near a flippin' tabloid paper fabricating quotes and a story to sell copies?

Jeez.

I honestly don't see how this would be a conspiracy theory, but ok lol.

If that guy actually said that himself, he is a goddamn idiot. I don't believe anyone can really be that stupid, unless of course he/she is offered something in exchange. They probably offered him some cash to say that, and the throwing darts at Zack thing is just ridicilous. Basically really proves it's just done for more controversy/publicity. Again, it's not a conspiracy, it's just logic. The Kurt Cobain death thing is totally different, what a stupid comparison.

So Marilyn Manson said this should be an annual thing where we pool together and try to out-do the x-factor pussies each year. I agree. As long as x-factor exists I think we should continue to do this. Apparently Manson is gunning for nine inch nails next year :).
