Wow thanks for posting the link to the new pics TwistedSnake! this is hard to explain but, I like how the person who made the CG models for Huey and Amanda made them look like Otacon and Meryl, while at the same time, making them different than their future incarnations. And the new pictures showing multiplayer shows that Infrastructure/Online mode is most likely in the game, which is great but, I kinda wanted at least 8 or 10 people to play together at the same time. Oh well, you can't have everything you want I guess. |

My sentiments exactly Heli, this is really getting annoying for long time fans. It's like he truly is some teenage girl writing fanfics...then again the man loves stuff like twilight...Guess this is what we get for making him feel mgs2 was a disaster. |

I dunno, it feels more like "History can repeat itself," more than linking everyone together. Huey, yeah he's rather obviously connected to Otacon, but the role of Huey with Coldman based on the trailer seem a tad more of that of a more willing Sokolov and a much less intimidating Volgin. Amanda, well we know voice wise, she'll sound nothing like Meryl. The actress that plays her has a native Spanish accent and is moderately well known for those types of rouge Ethnic characters. I think the point of making her seem slightly like Meryl was to emphasis a soldier in the wrong place at the wrong time, much like Meryl. I think simply basing attire as a means to assume they'll play the identical roles of their future counter-parts however can be a bit hasty. I mean, if they bare similarities, I could care less. It's how each character interprets the situations around them for the story that matters to me. Plus after seeing Amanda's 3D render, she actually reminds me less of Meryl than ever. Young but brave female soldier is the only real vibe I get, then again maybe my vibes are fucked up. At least we know Huey's for the time being working with the bad guys, based on his ID matching Strangelove and the Reinforced soldiers, meaning unlike Sokolov or Otacon, he's the first scientist in distress we got still on the side of the bad guys, guessing at some point that changes, at least enough for Coldman to hurl him down a flight of stairs with a smile on his face. Amanda, and her kid brother Chico, I guess are fighting on the Costa Rican front. My hope is Chico is playable. Like I REALLY hope that. Not because I want to play as him, but I really find the idea of shooting a child with a virtual shotgun to be hysterical.....and that's not healthy, is it.... I kind of wonder though, exactly what kind of character Grant Albretch is going to play. Most of his characters vary from old raspy characters, to very formal and regal characters, to straight up savages.

Wait I thought that big, structured base was Outer Heaven. In the TGS trailer or the nine minute trailer, whenever it was, I remember someone in there saying, "Welcome to Outer Heaven!" Is that huge structured base that resembles the Big Shell not Outer Heaven, Heli? I also don't mind the characters looking like each other. Big Boss looks and sounds exactly like Snake. He's looking more different here, but very similar mannerisms and actions, but still, Big Boss and Snake are separate characters. Their personalities differ slightly and it all comes down to the decisions they made that morphed them into becoming who they were in the later MG or MGS stories. And honestly, me and my dad look a lot alike, not exactly, but a lot alike, I know that's a bad example, but I really don't mind BB sounding and looking a lot like Snake or any of the characters for that matter. What matters is the decisions they make and how they revolve around the story. |

The Caribbean oil rig is a base that the government of Costa Rica give to the MSF as payment for their intervention in Costa Rica. Outer Heaven is a fortified military city in South Africa and also the name of Big Boss' rebellion against Zero. The Big Shell-lite is not Outer Heaven. I'd say that "Welcome to Outer Heaven" is a purely philosophical statement, or a statement of intent. It's Big Boss finally getting his mind right. Solid Snake looks identical to Big Boss because he's an almost perfect clone of him. Huey is likely Otacon's grandfather, so there will certainly be physical similarities between the two, but not to the extent that is there. Amanda is more speculative, but given the physical similarities (nothing to do with her clothing) it's likely that she is connected to Meryl, likely her mother. I don't like that Kojima doesn't think his fans are smart enough to work it out through information revealed in game rather than looks. It's insulting to have it forced down my throat like this. |

Awesome screenshots and nice character models, but I feel like Huey looks too similar to Otacon, and Amanda looks too similar to Meryl. Why is it that the young versions of the characters' ancestors always look almost the same? |

Because Kojima touches himself at night. On a related subject. Giving how Coldman appears, I'd say it's safe to assume he's like Dr. Flemming main antagonist of MGA, where as he's the mastermind, but not super powered, and not all that dangerous one on one, at least with Snake. I wonder if he is in fact the final boss, if he'll spend his face off in machines like Cunningham did in MPO. |

Wow... I've gotta say, I agree with Heli. I'm getting fucking' sick of this shit, where we have to be bombarded wih people that look so blatantly like the other characters. Heli said it right about the fans being able to work it out (or maybe not, in Hideo's eyes). I mean, I gotta admit, I'm a fan of having (SOME OF) the characters interlink in some way through these prequels (I don't care if anyone else hated, I was happily surprised and thought it worked well as a plot twist when I found out that Sigint was the DARPA cheif, Para-Medic; Dr. Clark, etc. But feck me, that Otacon clone is ridiculous; it's almost perfect (It'll probably work out that Otacon's grandfather was in fact the ultimate killing machine as: he killed a whole bunch of people without even being in the same country—-HOW'S THAT FOR STEALTH?!?!, and if you look at it, Otacon's survived through nearly the entire series and didn't peg it at the end like Snake did! He's always been there to save the day at some stage as well... So there we have it, there was a more successful cloning program going on in secret in the newly-formed Outer Heaven and Big Boss was used as a decoy while they constructed Otacon's family!). Ok... ignore that pathetic joke as I slyly try to move back on-topic without gaining any raised eyebrows... So, yeah, I think it's fucked how similar they are. I don't feel like I'm getting anything original here. Oh, and on a side note... Again with the anime/ Final Fantasy shit, Kojima. You're gonna have to stay on the naughty step a little while longer. This is really starting to get on my tits. Why is it (or am I just a moaning old git) that all the male characters look different but all the female characters pretty much all look like they've just seen the fattest shlong on Earth? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR, KOJIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Oh, and another thing, a question, actually... Is any of the characters shown here Gray Fox and does anyone know whether he will factor into the game at all? I'm not 100% on the timeline and happenings in this period and just wondered whether anyone has an inkling of whether we're gonna see him in this game or not?
