Can't believe there isn't a thread on this.![]() http://kotaku.com/5513122/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-product-placement-explained It's fucking disgusting in my opinion. Sure Triumph and Calorie Mates were in 3, and then 4 went a bit further with the iPod/Apple/Regain/obscure Japanese cell phone, and now we have motherfuckin' Big Boss with an unlockable Mountain Dew t-shirt. Kojima is obviously trying to wring as much money as he can out of this dying franchise before jumping ship. The only theory I've heard that even comes close to justifying this is he may be using the profits to raise funds for a new ZOE game, but honestly it's not like he's strapped for cash. |

As long as the Doritos increase my HP more than those worthless medi-packs in MPO, I couldn't give a shit less. |

Not to mention that Hideo Kojima actually added the product placement into the game to shock the players, not to try and promote the products. |

lol yeah that sounds plausible "A spinning dorito chip packet larger than my torso in 1970's jungle" "I am shocked" I think he also said it was 'nothing like Hollywood product placement', seems legit.

Doritos hit them market in the 60s. Which is besides the point, no one cares. It doesn't effect the gameplay at all, or the story, it's a gimmicky thing that's been part of MGS for a long time. Honestly these fans moaning about product placement ... no logic at all. Anyway it's been discussed to death, and the result of which was the discovery that it bothered one person. It's not great, I'm not wetting myself about it, I just don't care. Actually the Walkman should be good, so I guess it's good if anything. |

This is pretty much a broken record around here, so it's basically redundant having another thread about this. Scrap thisss. |
