Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the next (and best?) blockbuster PSP game may be getting a PSN release. And not just the kind that lets you download the game onto your PS3 but still be forced to play it on your PSP. This is the kind of PSN release that will let you play Peace Walker on your PS3... and use the PS3's online capabilities to play with people all over the world.

GamePro contributor Ben PerLee noted this during his "Peace Walker Bootcamp experience":

"So after I had done the preview, [Konami] had a Q/A session with us to get our complaints/ideas about the game. Other than the basics, they asked what we thought about if they released it on PSN for the PS3 as well and had online multiplayer."

It's noted that this is not an unusual question to ask of media tester types, but the article also points out that "the Konami representative asking the questions actually wrote down the answers," and this is an oddity.

Gauging interest, perhaps? A standard throwaway question? Or good news for the millions of PSP-less PS3 owners? We'll see. I know plenty of people who've cried, "Why isn't Peace Walker on the PS3?! Stupid developers!" Well, maybe they won't have to cry much longer.

I'd rather not fork out for a psp, so.... here's hoping. Or not.

Say whaaaaaat?!

Weird. One of the main reasons I got a PSP was for PW. Though I'm indifferent I suppose as it would probably be easier to play co-op.

We have arrived.
I hope it isn't true, and to be honest I don't see it happening. Why would they have put such an amount of work into making this game for PSP and making it to be one of the best games on the system while noting that portable gaming is huge in Japan, to then say "oh no, sure we might aswell make it a PS3 release / PS3-esque release"?

It can't be for nothing
After all the time and effort Kojima put into making it for the PSP I don't see this happening. I'll be shocked if this does happen, especially after how much he talks up the PSP. I actually believe he said something like it would be impossible for Peace Walker to be on anything else.

If they are going to be placing Peace Walker on the PS3, they'd better make it a directors cut (so several things in the PSP version had to omit due to data limitations like, I don't know, adding in those sixty-odd missions that were apparently left out due to there not being enough room. I'd mention more, but it would delve into spoilers towards the game. At least the sixty mission thing was from a prerelease blog from Kojima.).

Oh yeah well I'm with that too. I've already paid off my preorder for the PSP version but I'd take a version on the PS3 over the PSP in a second. My PSP is mainly used when I'm watching TV honestly. I multi task. It will be hard to just go find some time to play the PSP like any other game on my PS3 (if that all makes sense).

I would be thrilled if PW really was coming to PS3, but I would be willing to bet money it isn't. Do we remember around E3 and everyone was like "Why isn't this game on PS3" and Kojima was like "So you can go outside and play with other people! No sitting inside for you!"

I'd like to keep this only for PSP to be honest.

What with Kojima hyping it all up for PSP. The only plus I could see is the control scheme changing with the R2 and L2 buttons making it a lot more accessible.

Anyway, the graphics being "up'd" a notch wouldn't please me to say the least. For some reason...the graphics in Peace Walker work perfectly with the scenery. I'm not sure why it is, but it really catches my eye.

It'd be more 'eye-catching' on an hd display. The fact that we have minis... I see this as a possibility in the future.

I don't see why they don't remake MGS1 on the PS3 instead...
It's a much better idea IMO.

Speaking of which, that makes me wonder. If they release it on PSN, will they mess with it or only make better graphics?
If they improve on the graphics, then why not just do the same with MGS1. Yes, I realize that there isn't a button you can push and it's instantly 1080p, you have to re-create the levels and everything from scratch, but still...

I dont see a point in remaking what has already been redone. Peace Walker will either be given a release onto the psn with ps3 support (simple 1080p upscale I guess) a few months after Peace hits or it won't. End of story.
