I sincerely doubt this. Kojima put an assload of work into this game, so much that he can't multitask with Metal Gear Solid Rising. And now he's just going to port it to the PS3? No, not happening.

Although I've love to have online versus if the PS3 gets implemented.

It's true that Kojima put a lot of work into this game, but I don't see how that's a reason not to release it for PS3. More people would have the opportunity to play it and the PSP really has its downsides (tiny sound, small screen, bad controls) which Japanese people don't care about but lots of us westerners do (I being one of them).

The PSP version looks great and feels great and I have it on pre-order, but I'd love to see this on a reasonably sized screen and a good control layout with dual analogue to really experience it in the best way possible.

tiny sound

I assume you mean low volume.
I almost always play with headphones. The experience is SO much better.

small screen

Looks to me anyway, that PSP has one of the nicest screens I've ever seen on a hand-held system, especially the 3000.

bad controls

Depends on who you are. I don't mind the current PW controls.

But yeah, the controls would probably be better on PS3 because of the extra triggers and dual analogs along with the vibration function.

I don't think it's gonna happen, but I would NOT complain if it did. It means I won't have to get a psp and what not.

Yes, and besides, assuming that the PS3 disc has more memory than the PSP UMD for Peace Walker, it would also give him a perfect excuse to insert some things that he had to remove due to data limit-related reasons. For example, those sixty missions that he mentioned in an interview that he couldn't implement into the final version due to there not being enough room.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the next (and best?) blockbuster PSP game may be getting a PSN release. And not just the kind that lets you download the game onto your PS3 but still be forced to play it on your PSP. This is the kind of PSN release that will let you play Peace Walker on your PS3... and use the PS3's online capabilities to play with people all over the world.

GamePro contributor Ben PerLee noted this during his "Peace Walker Bootcamp experience":

"So after I had done the preview, [Konami] had a Q/A session with us to get our complaints/ideas about the game. Other than the basics, they asked what we thought about if they released it on PSN for the PS3 as well and had online multiplayer."

It's noted that this is not an unusual question to ask of media tester types, but the article also points out that "the Konami representative asking the questions actually wrote down the answers," and this is an oddity.

Gauging interest, perhaps? A standard throwaway question? Or good news for the millions of PSP-less PS3 owners? We'll see. I know plenty of people who've cried, "Why isn't Peace Walker on the PS3?! Stupid developers!" Well, maybe they won't have to cry much longer.

I'd rather not fork out for a psp, so.... here's hoping. Or not.
This is getting sad. I was once asked in a survey about Pokemon if I owned any consoles other than a Gameboy... Does that mean Pokemon's coming to PS2?

Well it wasn't perfect but it was "sufficient". Guess as perfect as a game on the PSP can get at least better than Portable Op's controls.

Here's to the power of the PSP GO. The Peace Walker demo looks excellent on my 37" 1080p set hooked up with component cables, and I get to play it with my Dualshock3 via bluetooth.

It would kind of piss me off. I went out and got a PSP a few days after the PW trailer showed at E3. I shelled out 170 dollars solely for that game and that system because it was supposedly EXCLUSIVE for PSP. So for it not to be would piss me off for personal reasons.

But it would still be cool though, and being the MGS whore that I am, I'd definitely get it. I don't see it happening either. Why would they work so hard on the PSP version of the game only to port it to PS3. I think this game is supposed to boost PSP sales and is arguably going to be the best game on the system.

Making it for PS3 would take sales away from PSP because more people would be interested in just getting the PS3 game. It'd be bad for business in the sense that their original objective for this game for SCE would be to help boost the PSP and really push some units with it.

I don't see it happening, and will be very shocked if it does.

i too don't see it happening, for the time being anyways. the game just came out in japan and we've got over a month left before it's released everywhere else. it would take a good while before PW gets released on PSN. funny thing is i got my psp a couple years back before the psp2000 came out so that i could play portable ops, which i did enjoy. i stocked it with cfw after buying some games for it and decided to buy my friend's psp for $60 recently since he didn't care for it anymore just so i could play the first jpn PW demo without having to wait for compatible cfw. i've preordered the collector's edition from gamestop but am thinking of upgrading it to the Big Boss Package because then i could use the pimped out psp3000 and play it on my 32" hdtv. then i wouldn't really give a rat's ass if PW ever did come out thru PSN.

that being said, if PW Does get released in PSN i would hope it'd be outfitted with the stuff from Kojipro's cutting room floor cuz then at least there would be an extra incentive to really buy it for those people who don't own an psp, as everyone else mentioned.

what's swirling around in my head now is if PW would every be released with nextgen graphics.. imagine Big Boss on PS3? of course i don't think it'll ever happen but it's nice to dream.

No thanks, I'm not into playing videogames on systems they weren't designed for.

Not this generation at least.

Plus one of the main reasons I re-bought a PSP was because of Peace Walker. I'll be even more annoyed than I was when I bought a PS3 for MGS4 and the story turned out to be a crock of shit (story is the main reason I play MGS games).

i dont see this happening anytime soon, maybe next year. even though its very do-able i doubt it would be hard to port, there are alot of psn games that can be played on both ps3 and psp. all pixeljunk games for example.

It is a far possibility but maybe Kojima will do it just as he did for MGS4. Releasing it on both PS3 and PSP.

But I'm with it being released on PS3. It will have by far better graphics.

No it wouldn't. They aren't talking about a remake or HD upscale, just releasing the PSP game with the option to play the game using the PS3.

The only possible thing that I could see being affected is loading times.

Yeah, back when I was playing NWN2, my computer's system requirements were "Recomended". And it took years for computer to load a damn area. Loading times, long loading times are a bitch.

I wasn't thinking of a "remake." I was thinking more of something along the lines of a "director's cut." You know, a special version of a movie that, while largely the same as the theatrical release, also added in stuff that couldn't make it into the theatrical release for a variety of reasons, such as time constraints, length constraints, or some material not fitting the story or just inappropriate. Like the Special Edition of "Independence Day" where they included the scene where Marty gives an unscripted kiss to an unsuspecting David (for obvious reasons, that couldn't make it into the theatrical release), or some of the Star Trek films (pre Next Generation)
