Do You Care About Monster Hunter Mode?; Well, do you?

While Peace Walker's inclusion of single player and (I think) co-op Monster Hunter battles from Capcom's very Japanese franchise makes absolute sense in the land of the rising sun, I was wondering if westerners are intrigued by the mode, think it out of place, or even care that it's present? The Monster Hunter games have been some of the best selling PSP titles in Japan, and oddly enough I think that it will help sales of PW there.

I've been curious about Monster Hunter for a while now, but haven't been able to access the game based on the consoles that I have. This will be my first PSP, so purchase number three (after portable ops) will be the most recent Monster Hunter.

As this is a MG forum, are you excited about the mode? It's another co-op mode, which is awesome. Are you surprised by the crossover? What are your feelings?

Thanks

The man in a pickle suit.
Hasn't this been discussed before?

I don't really care for it, or anything co-op related for that matter. There's only one person I want to play co-op with and he lives in the fucking UK, and you can't play adHoc Party using copies from different regions.
I'm sorry for being a cunt.

I don't really care about it. I've never really played Monster Hunter (except for the demo, which did nothing for me). It'll be fun and I'll try it out, but I'm very indifferent to it as an extra feature and would have preferred more maps they couldn't fit into the game instead of this extra mode.

Don't care about it but as long as it's a free extra I have no problem with it, i'll try it maybe but I've played "Monster Hunter" before, wasn't my thing.

I checked back several pages before posting. Wasn't sure which was worse: reviving old post or starting this one. I found it odd that I couldn't find one.

Given the nature of adhoc party, I guess that it makes sense to not be able to play with someone with another region coded game, but it's unfortunate that it cannot be more global.

Well, considering based on the videos, these Monster Hunter battles are more or less...scaly Metal Gear Rex battles, yes.

I've never played any of the Monster Hunter games before, but this looks like a lot of fun, so yeah, I'm looking forward to it.

I like that idea. More boss battles. Though Kojima has crafted some of my favorite boss battles ever, and the bar is high, I'm cool with some more free ones.

If I ever have to take on RE's Wesker, it's gone too far at that point.

i think you'd have to be someone who's pretty into monster hunter in the first place to actually enjoy it. i tried the demo for the psp from psn and it just kind of annoyed me. the gameplay mechanics feel too rigid and not really smooth. i don't know how it is for anyone else or any fans of monster hunter but i suppose the monster hunter Mode for mgspw would be ok because it'd have the option to choose the PW control scheme and it'd only be an extra-ops mission so it's whatevs for me.
