so this is my first metal gear solid game on a psp and my first psp;)
the first thing i noticed was the missing analog stick im so used to with a mgs game lol

i do like how they made the controls interchangeable according to comfortability, and how you, as a person, play the game!

ive messed around with them and i wish i could make it custom, but i think i like either action or shooter, still not sure which i like better

what do all of you think, which do you prefer and why?

Not sure of the name but obviously the MGS4 like ones where you can actually control the camera without bending your fingers in half.
Loving the controls(for a handheld)

the mgs4 controller scheme is called Shooter and that's the default one which i'm using. it feels more natural compared to the Action scheme which is for players who are used to the MPO controls. funny cuz i've beaten MPO a couple times already and when the MPW demo hit i tried customizing my MPO controls to a Shooter style scheme (cuz you can map your buttons to certain actions) and it felt so damned weird cuz my brain is hardwired on the controls depending on which MGS game i'm playing. like my brain goes: ok you're playing MPO so these are the buttons. it doesn't take that long for me to switch from playing mgs1, 2 or 3 to mgs4 controller schemes i suppose cuz of muscle memory. my fingers rememeber which buttons to press. and i'm glad that there's an option to invert views. the way i play is: Square = Left, Circle = Right, Triangle = Down, X = Up (kinda like if you're standing behind a gun turret and firing you have to pull down to point up and push up to point down). i also max the sensitivity to 10 so it's faster to look around in case their are enemies you can't see behind you. that's how i play FPS shooters too. some people think that's a weird setup but i can't play any other way.

Shooter Type. Wow, no love for Action Type? How sad.

Shooter type is the most accessible. MPO type is bleh because MPO's controls blew. I haven't even bothered with MH controls. I know the MGS4 controls like the back of my hand and they come very naturally to me, so it was a no brainer when picking my controls scheme.

I completed MPO for the first time, just before the release of Peace Walker, so I've played the game with Action controls. So I guess I'm the only one in this thread so far.

Its the Shooter control scheme for me. Action controls for MPO didn't really bother me that much (when playing MPO only) but its just the fact that in MPO while you're walking with analog stick and I have to move camera to get a better view using the Directional button by bending my index finger to adjust the view can getting really annoying and I had thoughts about using the MPO controls but then I looked at the Shooter controls scheme and decided to use it. It is much more easier to move the camera around with the X,O, square and trianlge buttons rather than use the directional button (can really annoying if you trying to move and aim at the same time in PW)

I started out on Action and I was really struggling with one of the bosses, so I looked up a walkthrough. It recomended Shooter, so I switched. MUCH easier than Action, now.

You're pretty good...

I was just looking at it, and suddenly I got this irresistible urge to get inside.
No not just an urge - more than that.

Action, I can't get used to the camera controls for Shooter, and I prefer to stop and aim. It feels best for me.

I find the shooter controls more comfortable, I like to adjust the camera while I'm moving. Nevermind Monster Hunter :whistle:

Action, I don't know why, but I just get this exciting feeling when using it, finding different ways to position my hand so I can move and shoot...

I use 'Action type'.

Its tricky to control the camera with but once you get used to it then it isn't a problem.
'Action Type' feels much more like the classic MGS controls (Square to shoot and punch, etc).

I never really liked the MGS4 control scheme, so 'Shooter type' didn't really do anything for me.

I made my MPO controls like mgs4. I don't really get why people complained bout PO's controls considering you could change them.

face buttons=camera
down=stance
up=reload
left=items
right= FPV
L = aim (autoaim)
R = Shoot/CQC/action

so naturally I picked Shooter.

But this is kind've avoiding the real point: "Metal Gear games on PSP should have fixed-camera angles".
ONE Nub for god's sake. Save the 3d camera for ps3, and keep the classic gameplay style on the portable.

I play with the shooter style controls. I am really good at MPO controls but for some reason only when I play MPO am I good at it. I can't play like that for Peace Walker. It's pretty weird.

I just got Peace Walker yesterday and I love this game.

Finally someone who adjusts their controls on MPO. I've done the very same when I'm online.
