I really thought Null/Gray Fox was going to be in this game, I wouldn't of mind if Sokolov was in too, but he might take some spotlight from Huey. |

Personally, they should have at least mentioned Python just so we have actual confirmation to his fate. Leaving his fate two ways and not really leaving any sense of resolution after that really one of the creators biggest mistakes that they ever made. |

The one character that I missed was Ocelot. I think he could have easily been implemented into the story (even if it had just been in a secret tape). On the other hand I think that Gray Fox's absence was completely valid. Gray Fox was FOXHOUND through and through, all the way up until the time of the Zanzibar Land uprising. If that was retconned (merely as an excuse to put him in PW), then I would have been a bit annoyed. In my opinion 'Null' was handled awfully in Portable Ops as it is, and the Frank Jaeger character could have been further ruined in PW, had he been included. EDIT: As for Sokolov, I'd find his inclusion to be completely unnecessary. His story finished in MGS3 and really didn't need to go any further. He was used in MPO to little effect. Henceforth, I'm glad that he wasn't in PW. Edited by Solid Gally, Jul 31 2010, 04:55:59 PM.

We have arrived.
|
I think if the follow-up to Peace Walker that Kojima mentioned a while ago is made, we'll see a lot more characters we know. Null will more than likely be involved and maybe we'll even learn of the time when Big Boss took in Sniper Wolf? Although I have to say I really disliked the cast in this game. Huey annoyed me to a terrible extent, Strangelove was pretty much the same and although she plays a very important part in the game and storyline I really didn't care for her. Chico, Amanda, Cecile etc. were pretty pointless too, they were just there so you would have something to interest you during missions. I didn't even feel I was doing anything important at most times when I was trying to rescue certain people or find others. Edited by NateDog, Jul 31 2010, 04:59:42 PM.

Well, technically, Gray Fox wasn't entirely in FOXHOUND from the start as he participated in Mercenary missions in the Mozambician Civil War. |

When I first saw the Peace Walker trailer I thought Cecile was Sniper Wolf. I guess I'm asking for too much when it comes to characters like Sokolov and Null. |

Didn't like Python personally, don't really care to know what happened to him. Anyway, one thing I love about all the MGS games (MGS4 didn't do this, so that's not counted) is the ability to create a huge new cast of supporting characters that we've never seen before each time. PW continued that tradition very well. Strangelove and Coldman were great characters to me. Really enjoyed them. Liked Amanda and Cecile too, they just weren't very well developed. Anyway.... Would I have liked to see certain characters return? Yeah, but I think in the PW sequel we'll see them make their return. The story didn't really call for it for PW. Yea, it seems as though all of the main characters(Not going to mention who.)in Peace Walker will pretty much betray Big Boss, and I'm sure Kojima will make Python become Psycho Mantis or some shit. So yea, I also expect a lot of characters from MGS3 and maybey MG1 and 2 to appeer. |

Except Psycho Mantis did not have any Ice-related powers, and in fact was born in Russia, and was raised by the KGB after accidentally destroying his village in a shock-induced release of Psychic energy. By the time of Portable Ops, Psycho Mantis either wasn't born or was just born. |

The game about the "Rise of Outer heaven" could have been so much more: -Instead of making Mother Base. How about the player constructing Outer Heaven!! Constructing the setting of Snake and BigBoss's infamous mission room by room. -Instead of recruiting child soldiers like Chico etc, why not recruit the child soldiers that become the bosses in the MG games!! -Instead of boring the player, why not surprise the player like back in your mgs2 days and have a chunk of the game take place in a different setting. Where? I don't know, how about 1995 OuterHeaven!!?? Playing as Snake in the facility you just constructed coming to kill Big Boss!! (with a classic fixed camera, suitable for the PSP's one nub set up). |

Once again, Kojima will make some bull shit story element that Outer heaven was moved onto land, isn't it on land in Metal Gear? Huh, Kojima needs to remake Metal Gear 1 and 2 so they can be enjoyed as much as there successers. |

Yes, Ocelot. It's freakin MGS tradition to have an appearance by Ocelot. This was honestly the biggest dissapointment of the whole game for me. Even worser than the rather meaningless plot till chapter 5. |

What was Ocelot supposed to do? He doesn't have a place in the plot, unless there was a secret phone call with Ocelot and Big Boss, Ocelot telling him about the "Sons". But thats about it. |

Would be enough IMO. Secret phone call, tape, anything. Additional cutscene where he talks to Zero/Eva about BB/les enfants terribles/"Cipher". I think that he could also play some role in the whole "retaliation strike" discussion during chapter 4. Why not have him be in the room and ultimately make sure that there is no retaliation strike. There were truly many way to inculde Ocelot in any way. They did it on PO why not on PW? |

Portable Ops is probably the only game in the whole series thats canon that you could ignore. Portable Ops might as well be consider non-canon. So either way, Ocelot's apperence was just to say "The Patriots are coming in the next game ya bitches" |

Well, yeah, except they could have easily ignored Gene's full story on what happened to The Boss by having EVA tell Solid Snake exactly the same account as she told Big Boss in MGS3, and only keep in the whole Zero issue if they wished to ignore it. |
