Ah, I actually really like the Extra Ops, but it depends what you like I guess. ![]() I also quite liked sending them on missions, although I am starting to get a bit annoyed with constantly having to come out of the mission screen to find out what they done and send them back out. I just thought the captains may be classed as a sub boss or something...my mistake if they're not. ![]() I do think its ridiculous how the unmanned weapons in this seem to be more advanced than things like Metal Gear Rex which comes later in the series

It was only more action oriented if I you wanted it to be. They just allowed for more optional diversity. Which is a good thing.
You've obviously never played MPO. |

Portable Ops at least tried to keep you on your toes in regards to any possible chance of being caught by randomizing enemy positions when having to go through areas. Peace Walker didn't even do that. Instead, no matter how many times you redo a mission, the enemy placement is still there exactly the same, which significantly reduces the challenge of sneaking even without tranqs. Not to mention that Portable Ops at least allowed Procurement On Site, a staple of the Metal Gear games. Peace Walker didn't. You get Grenades and a LAW (the last one is only in a mission cleared menu and not in-game), and the Rations, Cardboard Box, Assassin's Straw Box, and possibly the Mate could be procured on enemy territory, but that's just about it. Most items and weapons are either ones you already brought with you (Mk22 and M16A1), or need blueprints to even develop (IE, most other weapons and equipment). A few rare cases, both apply (such as the Analyzers). Don't get me wrong, it's still an enjoyable game, but in terms of Metal Gear standards, it really sinks below Portable Ops by a significant degree. At least Portable Ops attempted to do justice to the Metal Gear standards of OSP and actually giving a sneaking challenge. It also presents a problem when Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker doesn't even allow the player any freedom of exploration, something that other Metal Gear games have done in the past, even Portable Ops. By that, I mean you could revisit a past map just because you feel like it without it having to be your primary objective. |

I played like half an hour of it, so it's not really enough to form a proper opinion on it. Although from what I've read/heard about it I probably would consider it worse than PW. I do like PW btw. I was just very disappointed by it. |

I personally think the sneaking about in Peace Walker was incredibly easy, the enemies are so stupid, you can run a few meters infront of them and they THINK they see you there...then you run away and suddenly they think they're imagining things haha Though I loved running around with a banana holding people up! I haven't played PO for a while but I have it on my shelf ready for when im done with Peace Walker I cant remember if the comic scenes in PO are interactive like in Peace Walker... Either way I like both games, they both have their bad and good points.

PO was a great first outing for mgs on psp, however by taking the console control scheme and forcing it onto psp didn't feel quite right, and the map style of gameplay, was my least favourite aspect of the game, the fact that evel level was pretty much a big square with walls around it, other than that the story, sneaking and boss battles were excellently done as usual. But then came along peace walker and blew portable ops out of the water in my opinion, it borrowed mgs4's shooter type controls which fitted psp perfectly, and introduced interesting new concepts (load outs, outfits, vehicle battles etc) which made peace walker a different but ultimately excellent mgs game. Unlike weedle, i think that peace walkers differences to the main series are not a weakness, but a major strength, they made the game fresh, yet still classic metal gear premises. |

I can't be arsed to list off the reasons why PW is far superior, not at this late anyway. I'll just say that PW is more critically acclaimed and inarguably has a better story, and more hang for your buck. The intricate gameplay superiorities are too numerous to mention. |
