the gun itself lasted longer than any M9 model could, the only reason the M9 replaced the M1911 was because standard issue sidearms had to conform to new NATO policies which were 9mm rounds instead of high stopping power .45 APC rounds, even the soldiers had a problem with the 9mm ball rounds due to their lack of stopping power, hell most pistols today use the internal mechanisms of an M1911 as its performance was outstanding |

Plus if a 1911 breaks, the parts are extremely easy to repair. Part of the reason why it's so popular and why it can be easily customized. Stupid French people. Denying Arthur the Holy Grail and such... |

Ha! thats a valid point to be honest....the parts barely ever broke, only on the rarest occassions and the broken parts can be replaced by a similar part from another gun as a way of refunctioning it in combat I think, not 100% on that lol, and yes it is the most customisable handgun avalible still...so many parts so little cash XD |

I've been looking around but found no valid answer yet. There's about 2,000,000 known 1911's in the world, but those were the ones developed by Colt and SA. Are there other manufacturers besides clone pistols like the Hardballer? |

oh yeah, if you find any of their stores they can make you one from scratch, just as long as your able to afford the price for it and such, I would prefer Colt anyway since I like their weapons |

That's a really good topic. Though I am just a enthusiast (I have no theoretical or even practical knowledge about firearms) I'd like to share some comments about it. Brazilian armed forces adopted the Belgium FN FAL (Fusil Automatique Leger) since the 60's as their standard rifle, then licensed a copy and began to produce the IMBEL MD-2, MD-3 and at the end of 90's the MD-97, all derivatives from FAL. I won't explain major differences between themselves and original FAL, except for the change from 7.62 to 5.56 (the MD97 is still a 7.62). Nowadays the army wants a complete replace of their FAL with the new IA2, a completely made-in-Brazil rifle, which design resembles and fit the "762 old warrior": IMBEL IA2 weapon system Allied with other minor changes, the new IA2 weapons (5.56 and 7.62) are lighter and have more polymer parts than its previous weapons and have a better ejection system. The IA2 7.62 is like the original FAL in many aspects, but weights 1kg less and has a less antiquated design. The problem with the original FAL in war nowadays is (in the opinion of some specialists) that firefights may occur closer, and also, further, than the average (traditional) combat range (for personal firearms). The FAL is too heavy and goofy for close quarter combat, but also has no modifications or added precision for a long-range combat so marksmen may prove their effectiveness. The IA2 system solves both problems, making it lighter, sharp, sexy and deadly, and don't forget they have picatinny rails that allows them to accept many accessories like red dot sights. Personally, I like the new concept and design. This weapon isn't state-of-the-art best weapon of world but is definitively better than what we use today. It passed the military testing, so it must do the job. The IA2 5.56 carbine isn't much different than the rifle, but the CQC version is undoubtedly shorter. The 5.56's buttstock has a pretty original design, with an innovative inner shoulder belt support. If this weapon show no internal problems or jamming, it must be adopted right now IMHO. |

Looks very similar to an ACR, and looks like an overall improvement. The FAL's an excellent weapon in general, but a lot of countries are starting to phase out of 7.62mm weapons and into NATO-compliant weaponry. Even Russia made the change in the 70's. |

Bitch please. Your Golden Eagle is no match for the FireFox. The FireFox could sweep Emmeria under the rug! Close, but no cigar. I must admit though. The Golden Eagle is one of my all time favorite aircraft. (Nice AC6 photo by the way) Edited by Kestrel, Oct 1 2012, 03:45:07 AM.

I know right! Those forward swept wings give it some serious maneuverability. Up to 17+ G's. Jesus.... a flipping blackout in a plane shaped box. |

But of course. It's forward swept wings, triple line and forward canard design increases it's lift to drag ratio. By, like, alot. It has thrust vectoring too. It turns out the possibility of blacking out is so great, the reclined the seating 60° to help the pilot deal with all that pressure. Imagine, weighing 85 kilos and instantly putting on 850 kilos. All in the blink of an eye. Edited by Kestrel, Oct 1 2012, 04:02:11 AM.
