Hiya. I guess just judging from my own combat experience even conventional soldiers are trained with katanas etc. these days. I'm not sure if this was true in the 80s though (which is when this is set right?) Japan seems like an obvious choice considering this katana connection. I've got a friend who lives there and he told me there are ninja literally everywhere in Tokyo. |

Which katana connection? You're still talking about Rising? "Ninjas literally everywhere in Tokyo". Really? |

I'm not fussed on type of locations, urban and jungles are both great, but I really really don't want the field to be filled with soldiers fighting or at war like in the first Act of MGS4, bleh. Took away the whole element of sneak for me personally. If I had a choice I'd choose urban, the feel in shadow moses was epic, but the jungle style is more Big Boss' thing. I'm personally hoping for a more claustrophic setting akin to some of the early Metal Gears. Perhaps in the now obligatory "dream sequence" level, a mission in a horrendous 8-bit realisation of the Kowloon district in Hong Kong, complete with bustling streets and Drebin peddling various wares etc.? |

I just think katanas really work in the MGS universe - good for blocking bullets etc. - and also I know that the real life military has started to use them so it will add a bit of realism into it. As for my friend in Tokyo, he told me that on almost every street there are yakuza/ninja/samurai etc. He told me that unless you're highly trained in some kind of martial art, you don't last two minutes on the streets. I'd like to see this represented in MGZeroes. |

You mean criminals who rob people or what? Guards challenging you on street? I just don't see that in modern Tokyo... Nothing indicates that GZ will take place in Tokyo. And Big Boss reflecting bullets with a katana wouldn't make any sense. |

I'm just saying Tokyo would work really well because as I said before, most Japanese people are trained in some form of CQC so I can imagine cool crowd scenes involving Snake vs. lots of modern day ronin types. As for Big Boss reflecting bullets a) it's happened in previous Metal Gear b) it's actually possible in real life, so it does make sense. |

In which game did Big Boss reflect bullets? Anyway since Rising will probably feature bullet reflecting I doubt they will take that into GZ. It just wouldn't fit Big Boss character imo. Plus I haven't thought about GZ including cities. It looks more like solo sneaking mission (at least from what we've seen up to now). Snake infiltrating a military camp. There will be more areas of course but I doubt there will be a city/cities like GTA. That would be great though. We will know more later... |

Deflect*... The only blade snake needs is his knife. I'd like a touch of all kinds of locations (sand, snow, jungle!). I'd like to see snake utilize tree better for stealth kills, unlike in mgs3 where you were wide up (camo index drop, as well). I would like to see snake sneak into somewhere from the water too (think act of valor). Definitely not space tho (unless he commandeers anubis in a Zoe game

That's like saying "In Texas there are cowboys on almost every street, unless you are a skilled gunfighter you don't last two minutes on the streets" AKA ridiculous. And if the military uses katanas, why? "As for Big Boss reflecting bullets a) it's happened in previous Metal Gear b) it's actually possible in real life, so it does make sense." It's not possible to deflect bullets with a katana in real life. |

I actually found it quite difficult to sneak through the war zones, especially in act 2. |
