Don't believe everything you read.

I thought it was obvious that Strangelove was Otacon's mother...... But then again, Otacon gained all the genetic traits of his father, wimp, cowardly and full of self doubt and confidence issues. Strangelove was the complete opposite. |

Volgin was HUGE. If you watch the trailer burnt man is relatively small. But I can see your point. Also, Spoiler: click to toggle So I could see how it could be him.

We're not even sure this man is burnt, just heavily disfigured. If you look at the daytime footage, he has blue skin. Why would Volgin have blue skin if the reason he was so disfigured was from being caught by lightning and burning?

I will have to disagree with you a bit. You have to remember that Snake Eater is considered episode 1 of the metal gear saga. Meaning Kojima could not go into long detail stories about the boss fights because than the story would have to extend further before 1964. Kojima only briefly touched on the small history between snake and the boss. In order to make it episode 1 of the franchise..kojima could only make the game about big boss and how his legend came about. He knew he could not go very deep in the story when it comes to the 1950s and 1940s..otherwise the MGS saga would never end. Plus you have to remember that the setting took place in 1964. The technology and intelligence was not as advanced as the 2005 MGS1 setting. For me it was kind of lame how Cambell, Naomi, and even ling knew more about the characters than snake himself. Snake eater is more realistic because they kind of just throw you on this mission in the 1960s without much codec help and it was more about survival. It was just more realistic for me. The gameplay revolving around the boss fights themselves is what made snake eater the game it is. ***SPOILERS AHEAD***** The Pain was a epic fight because you had to swim around while fighting the boss. No other MGS game has done that before. The Fear hopped around trees and reminded me of the 1987 movie "The Predator"..where you had use thermal or nightvision in order to kill him while searching those trees. It was lots of fun..especially on extreme difficulty. The End was probably the most unique fight because not only could you kill him in a paradox earlier in the game to avoid the entire fight..but he never killed you and instead dragged you back into an earlier part of the game. Not to mention this fight had so many easter eggs involving killing his parrot and where if you quit during this fight and turned on your console a week later..the End would die of old age ![]() The Fury had the best story line as he was a former astronaut who got burned in outer space and had his spotlight stolen by Yuri Gagarin. The whole flamethrower thing was also great and unique gameplay. The sorrow was an awesome unique fight as well. Not something in you see in you average video game The stories might not be better than MGS1 but you have to consider that fact that this game was more about Big Boss and his legacy and not about the villains. MGS1 focused more on everyone's story but solid snake himself. Snake eater was different as it was all about snake and boss. So Kojima basically made the cobra unit a group of disciples of the Boss. Plus its very unique that the game is called "Snake eater" and you had to kill off the "Cobra Unit" lol But I honestly didn't see anything special about MGS1 bosses other than Psycho Mantis and maybe Grey fox. Everything else seemed very simple and easy to defeat.

What if Metal Gear Solid "V" is essentially the point where Naked Snake aka Big Boss transitions to being the "v"illain? FOX v XOF? Help traveling outside of the hospital from Ocelot? Illusions? Using Zadarnov's red hand (Peace W) as a replacement? Diamond Dogs?

Someone mentioned Hugo Weaving lol Seriously, V for Vendetta and "the man in room V" is the first thing I thought of. I could see Big Boss being some sort of "patient #5" and being referred to as V for that reason. |

Probably unrelated but at one point in the trailer a big bolt of lightning/electricity comes down and hits the ground in front of Ocelot and Big Boss. I think Volgin will be involved somehow. |

Volgin involved somehow? God I hope not. He was a great villian in MGS3. Dragging his crispy ass out for a encore in MGSV doesn't appeal to me... Yet. |

Big Boss's visions in the hospital seem to hint at his reappearence but I honestly don't want to see him return either. My guess is that this guy is a new character and I hope he is since there already seems to be quite a few returning characters. Paz, Chico, Mantis, Ocelot, Kaz and probably a few more. |

Not something that has been mentioned yet, and I must admit my memory of her probably needs a little more refreshing, but could the Russian woman saying "V has come to..." be Natasha Romanenko? I'm not sure in what context why she would be around for this period, but just something I wanted to put out there for you all... |

I agree that Big Boss' subconscious was basically showing him a fiery Volgin in the hospital, but I don't think the character himself plays any importance. I saw that moment as a remembrance, and the fact that Volgin is attributed to some darker parts of his past. (Getting tortured) Edited by Kaweebo, Apr 15 2013, 04:17:38 PM.

I don't think so. MGS1 Nastasha doesn't seem to be old enough to have played any sort of role in MGSV. I wouldn't be surprised if a relative of hers showed up though. Huey's already hanging around, and then there's the possibility of Cecile being Holly White's mother. |

I just wanted to throw it out there in case it turns out to be true. But I've always considered it after seeing Cecile's design. Spoiler: click to toggle is similar to Spoiler: click to toggle Holly White's got an unnamed French mother and Cecile is French. Plus Metal Gear likes to reveal that characters are either related/are the same person quite a lot. But yes, it's a total guess. |

This is actually quite possible in my view since it is Kojima's style. As to how they would reveal it though I don't know. |

Someone mentioned Holly White. You know she's basically Meryl, right? MGS1 is basically an improved version of the Nintendo Metal Gears with changes, hence the similarities. Unless someone wants to argue by saying, "No, that's not right. Snake runs into redheaded women every time he infiltrates a large facility with the help of an identical support team to destroy Metal Gear." I can't see her being in a remake prequel. That would be strange as hell.
