I've always liked hearing or reading good stories, especially the ones that recount mysterious events. I'm referring to modern or historic mysteries, paranormal events, traditional stories and myths, and legendary creatures. I'm interested in all of it. Over the years though, I've heard a few that have been much more intriguing than the rest.

1. D. B. Cooper

2. The Valentich disappearance

3. The Flatwoods monster

What are some of your favorite stories? If it's unexplained or mysterious, I want to hear about it.

Valentich, I believe, is a stage by the pilot himself. The aircraft had enough fuel to go for 800km further, and there were reports of a mysterious light aircraft landing near Cape Otway, around the same time as the disappearance.
And most UFO reports were belated after the disappearance, as a spokesman puts it: Ken Williams, a spokesman for the Department of Transport, to tell Associated Press that "it's funny all these people ringing up with UFO reports well after Valentich's disappearance

My personal story would be the radio in my kitchen switching on itself. I was on the computer and started hearing music, I usually don't get spooked over stuff like this. I went to investigate what it was and realized that the radio was on. It could have been that I just accidentally left it on and the radio finally found a signal. Weird though that I never heard static noise if it was on in the first place, because the volume level was really high.

I'll post one of my favorite mysteries; numbers stations. Artificially generated voices repeating codes that consist usually of numbers. It is assumed that these radio stations are/have been used by spies, drug trafficers and the like.

Here is a recording of a numbers station broadcast, it is from East Germany prior 1989.

Alright guys. I have a personal experience to share as well. I have never really told many people about this because I know when people are skeptic, they can be very demeaning. Here it goes,

When I was about 12 or 13 years old I awoke to a noise in my bedroom. Like a thump. When I opened my eyes I was looking down at my pillow (thats how i sleep). When I rolled over there was a tall, somewhat thin dark/black hooded "person" standing beside my bed looking over me. I closed my eyes and prayed (this was before I became an Atheist) and when I opened them it was gone. Never saw it or heard the thump again. It was quite odd. Slept with the lights on for a while though.

^ Have you thought of it being sleep paralysis or simply sleep deprivation, a hallucination? The case of seeing a person in the corner of your eye and then disappearing ''shadow people'' because your field of view isn't that good at its limits, especially in the dark. This can result in seeing black, darkish objects that the brain might see as people or something. You can't shape objects well in the dark.

It wasnt "out of the corner of my eye" I turned and stared at it directly for about 10 seconds. Thats when I closed my eyes. And I wasnt sleep deprived. I was on a well balanced sleep schedule because of school.

I believe in the spiritual after life, or spiritual world. How can one cease to exist? It's a mind boggling notion.

Anyway, I have heard countless stories of death and ghosts, growing up and living in Ireland you hear a lot of legends and mysterious figures from the past.

Aye. Sometimes immediately after I wake up I see a large spider shaped(large as in, fucking lobster) on the wall, and when I blink it's gone. Just tricks of the mind.
My weirdest stories are pretty petty. Stuff like, when I was at my grandparents' village, I had opened a box of candy. My grandma was in the kitchen and my granddad - outside. I went from the living room to the kitchen eating a piece of candy(I had eaten two or three before) and when I came back, a few were missing. Now I have a bloody good short-term memory, so you can imagine what a 5-6 year old might think. Same thing happened a year later when I was alone in the house.
Now, I do know I might have miscounted the candy, or just remember wrongly, but still.
Anyway, I don't have any weirder stories, at least not of the unexplained/paranormal kind.

I watched a chilling short documentary about the Dyatlov pass incident a while ago, it's worth a watch:

There was a time before we were born where we didn't exist, so we can only assume that there is a time after we die where we don't exist, that how I look at it.

I have a odd story. It was fourth grade, an averege day, I went home, went to bed, slept, the next day, I felt odd..then I realized, the day was repeating. I had relived the same day twice. These events were the exact same thing and time as yesterday, only this time I knew, the events were repeating, I asked what day it was, and it was the same day as yesterday, I panic'd and talked about how the day repeated, but no one believed me. Then the next day, had become what the day should've been yesterday, time moved on. I don't know how it happened. All I know is a day repeated. It had to have been some kind of space-time anomaly.
So you've banned me, congradulations, was it worth it? Because despite your banning behavior, the only thing you've managed to ban so far, is my heart. <3

Well if we're going into personal stories, i've got a weird one.

I choose to believe it was a hallucination, or a dream, it makes no sense that this would be real, when the thought that this might be real crosses my mind... Nothing leaves me colder, feeling more alone, which is weird, considering how innocent it seemed when i would see it, no malice, no anger, not even sadness, just a slight, alien happiness. The thoughts of it make me cold and confused, and probably explain why i can't sleep anymore. Rarely ill have a sleep where i don't see that pale silhouetted face.

ill post it in the morning, i can;t think right, thinking about her.

Dude, first off, I love this stuff until it freaks the living hell out of me and I'm no longer able to sleep so I become sleep deprived and constantly paranoid. So I usually read this when other people are around me so I don't feel afraid.

Number stations can fuck off because they freak me out the most. Holy shit. They're so freaking weird. And the noises they make are just downright creepy.

...Die By The Gun

I’m not exactly sure when it happened. I couldn’t have been older than five or six. My brother and I were sleeping in our bunk bed. Because he was older, he got the top bunk. I had just woken up, but it was still nighttime. Something felt different. I remember seeing and smelling the rain, but not hearing any. The window was open and it was very cold in the room. Why was the window open? The curtains were gently flapping but there was no breeze. The quiet was so intense it buzzed through my ears. I’d been lying on my side, with one arm dangling off the edge of the bed. Gradually I became aware that it was warmer near the floor. I felt some kind of heated breeze gently strike my hand, coming and going in short bursts. Finally I recognized it as someone’s breathing.

Then the woman slid out from under my bed. The nightlight showed that she had long blondish hair and wore a white nightgown, and in the dimness I thought it was my mother. I wasn’t at all scared. It’s funny how a child’s mind works. What’s mommy doing under the bed? Must be getting something, or checking for monsters. I was too tired to say anything and remained motionless, watching. The woman was on her back, but her face stayed in the shadows. She rolled over and crawled on all fours to the far end of the bed, then glided up the ladder to the top bunk. Her every movement was silky smooth and completely silent. She reminded me of a white ribbon dancing in the wind. I closed my eyes and fell back to sleep.

I also remember my brother telling me about a weird dream the next morning. He’d dreamt of a woman who lived “under the floor” and came out at night to play in the rain. When her clothes got soaked, she went back inside and would whisper things to anyone who was sleeping. It became a recurring dream for him until our family moved out of that house.
