MGSF - Where everyone is right and you're wrong

A gay couple are the first to marry in France after it was legalized yesterday (4/29/13)

Good to see the world is starting to realize that love is love, and sexuality shouldn't be a problem.

now this is pod racing

Unfortunately not without a lot of opposition though. It's a little weird to see far-right, "pro-family" protesters throwing bottles at police.

It's pretty great though. Here in the states, more states are recognizing it too.

Yep, you know I read something interesting the other day "If you have ever watch gay or lesbian porn then you do not have a leg to stand on when opposing gay rights."

Yep, im not bothered, I don't oppose gay marriage. If you love somebody, then you love somebody, you wanna commit and marry this cat? Work away.

I'm more concerned at the opposition of gay couples adopting kids, I feel sympathy for the father/mother who wants nothing more than to raise a family. My wish is to be a great father, it's a dream many aspire to, to deny any human that right is wrong.

There's a lot of opposition towards gay parents adopting, shame when halve the gay community would make better parents the straight couples.

Do you have proof of that? Not that I have anything against gay marriage or adoption but I don't see how one person is 50% more likely (or less likely) than someone else because they're of a different sexuality.

Welcome to 2008 France, CT been up on this tip for YEARS.

Surprises me all the opposition though, I used to think France was among THE openest countries in the world when it came to sexual orientation and expression.

Is there actually any opposition to gay marriage on this forum? I just ask cause if there isn't, there really isn't any need for a thread in opinions/confessions.

No discussion on gay marriage unless someone opposes, then we can all start insulting each other. Is that how it works?

Because straight people have kids all the time they're bound to love them less. The novelty eventually wears off. It's how it works. human nature.

This is a debate section, this topic can exist in off topic but not here. The whole point of this forum is for debate and discussion, not for circle jerking.

notsureifsrs to be honest. One person loving a child less than another person would =/= being a bad parent.

It's like when you're a kid and you're not allowed a pet. But all your other friends have pets. Sure they look after them, but they take them for granted. It's not fair, you'd love their pet more and better. So when you finally get a pet of your own you love it better than anyone has ever loved a pet and look after it like no other pet has been looked after before because you never had one but now do. That denial to have a pet before hand made you appreciate what it is when you get it. That makes you better at love.

That still doesn't mean that every second gay person would be a better parent than a straight person. Tazmo said "halve the gay community would make better parents than straight couples". I see your point and agree with it (to a certain degree), but just because you might love a child more than someone else might doesn't mean you will be a "better" parent. Also I don't believe that every straight person takes any children they have for granted. (I know that's not the point here but my point is generalising in situations like this is pointless.)

I wasn;t serious. I thought the "That makes you better at love" might have been a give away. Guess not.

The fact France is only like the 13th country to approve this is sad.
