MGSF - Where everyone is right and you're wrong

...Well?

The other day I found a wallet... It had everything you could think of, 200 pounds in cash, several bank cards and some person papers. So, I thought to me self instead of taking the money and dumping the rest I thought I would make this strangers day, and return his stuff.

I took his family photo out and posted it on FB (I scribbled out the other family members faces) and waited for a response, luckily my friend knew the man and gave me his address, which was a few mile away, I jumped on the bus a personally delivered it to him... He was ecstatic, and couldn't believe my gesture.

The man offered me 50 pound as a reward, which I declined and requested he treats his family with it, again he was ecstatic...

I made my self really proud that day and I knew I had made someone happy...

So have you done anything really nice for a complete stranger? If so, please feel free to share.

A Thread with good intentions, let's hope it gets some active flow from other users here.

While this may be a bit small of a nice thing to do, it seems to be becoming rarer.
And that's holding the door open for people. They tend to be people I don't know.
And I don't only do it for Elderly People or Women, Children etc.
I do it without a set standard.

I don't even try. Why would I?

Donate platelets once every 4 weeks if that counts. I don't know who they go to, but that still makes them strangers I suppose.

Where i'm from, being polite isn't really a thing, but I always open doors for people, I never even thought of it as being nice really, I just consider it being polite.

I always let women go through doors before I do (the whole "ladies first" thing) and Everytime somebody drops something in front of me I'll pick it up for them.
Something that happened recently that I'm sort of proud of is I saw a guy waiting outside a tobacconist store and told me that he lost his ID and asked me if I could buy the cigarettes for him, he gave me the money so I went in and bought them for him and gave him the remaining change along with the cigarettes.
I'm sort of proud of this, I did do the guy a kind favor but in the long run I'm helping him kill himself, I don't really see it like that because I've always seen that as his choice but you know what I mean hopefully.
By the way I know that "I lost my ID" is code for "I'm too young to buy some things" and I didn't believe him either, he wasn't 12 years old or anything, he looked around 16-18 (I should mention that in Australia it's legal to purchase alcohol and cigarettes at the age of 18).

A few years ago I used to let people know if they left their keys in the door or their car lights on when I was doing my paper round. This one old lady left her keys in the door at least once a week... I like to think I helped her not get robbed. I don't generally see it any more though as I gave it up (my paper round) after a year or so.

I'm not so sure.
Is there a difference between being Nice, and being Polite?
I think they fall somewhere in the same category.

About 3 weeks ago I was walking to my school to do some revision and I found an old man with a cane by himself hobbling down the road picking up all the litter he could find, I was touched so I helped him out and after 30 minutes of some really pleasant conversation I went on. He gave me some good advice that day, and it makes me feel really good thinking back to it.

I've done a lot of nice things in the past, gone out of my way, I'd appreciate the sentiment back if the shoe was on the other foot, I believe in treating others how you would like to be treated.

- I've given money to homeless people before.

- Helped a lady change her flat tire.

- When I was a kid I saw some sick @#$% throw a sack into the lake. I ran over and jumped in and pulled out a sack full of kittens. Eventually we found them all homes. Never did find out who the guy was.
